There isn't really enough info in these races to make selections, but there are two highly notable maiden events at DelPark Saturday with a slew of interesting pedigrees on display. Matz unviels yet another well bred baby here in #4 Arabian Spirit (4-1), an A.P. Indy colt out of Chilean uber-mare Wild Spirit who came to America in 2003 and promptly won the G2 Shuvee (Smok'n Frolic, You), G2 DelCap (Take Charge Lady, Summer Colony) and G1 Ruffian (You, Passing Shot) before being bested by Azeri in the '04 G1 Apple Blossom; #5 Unbridled Punch (Broken Vow) is a half to Westover Wildcat (Forest Wildcat); Second out #10 Red Jack (12-1) by Exchange Rate is a full brother to Ronny Werner and Oxbow Racing's nice Ermine who won the '07 Apple Blossom; Ham Smith debuts #3 Done Talking (15-1) who was dropped by '05 Cicada winner Done Talking (Dixieland Band), herself a product of top race and broodmare Gin Talking. Rick Porter paid $360k for #1 Brigade (5-1), a Tiznow bay that is from the first foal of a Forestry dam that was 0/5 for $17k on track..

She was delivered by Mambo Bell (Kingmambo), a half sister to Evans' standouts Silver Music, Musical Ghost and Prospector's Song; Mary Eppler brings out #5 Penthouse Party (12-1), by Offlee Wild and a half to Ibboyee; Larry Jones trainee #1a Tribal Council (6-1) is a Brereton Jones production by Indian Charlie that is a full to the wonderful turf sprinter Mr. Nightlinger; #10 Miss Pavarotti (15-1) is a half to 90's era hard hitter Umpateedle..

Anyone noticve in the BEL 7th how the "6-1" on the winner Freshman Dorm translated all the way up to a smile-inducing $15.80? Because he wasn't the full "7-1" ($16.00), he clicks down to 6-1. A great example of how the ultimate move to decimal odds (6.90-1) accurately reflects horses' prices.

Kasept 09-10-2011 03:33 PM

Eskendereya sister QUINTE WEST gets loose at DEL... Shucking and jiving to elude capture too. May be allowed to participate though. Didn't really run off. Overlay on the Ibboyee sib PENTHOUSE PARTY. Used her underneath in the reverse tri key concept with a WP saver. (As an aside, why wasn't this filly sent to NY to run in state-bred company? Why make her job this much hard against some seriously bred bloodstock?)

POST RACE: Shocker! Pletcher-Robsham wins by 10! Yeesh.. Penthouse and Quinte both awful.

Don't know if anyone looks at how doubles are bet early, but the 7wAll was punched quite a few times

Yes, good ol' Golden Yank who got the worst of it in 2007 Delta Jackpot. Z Humor & Turf War double-teamed him at finish line. I was there too! Should been double DQ.

Today just proves that putting quality jockey on solid horse like Golden Yank can yield an excellent effort and result.

Tony, Larry, Steve, Brad..

THX! Had a really fun afternoon of jump around wagering. Hope everyone did well..

tanner12oz 09-11-2011 12:20 PM

went 4/5 in the pick 5 at calder yesterday..found it interesting that the #7 was the favorite in the final with the #7 being the 3rd or 4th choice in the doubles, pic 3 and pick 4 but triggering a 4/5 in the pick 5. just something i noticed and found perplexing....btw i though the pick5 paying something in the $1800 without a horse over $10 was more then fair.
