9/5: Saratoga (Closing Day; Hopeful/Glens Falls)

Enjoyed big snapback Sunday from lousy Saturday with early quad hit and second big Jim Baker score of the week. Heart of Destiny received a fearless ride by Edgar Prado in the deep 6th race, and nosed out the 'can't lose' Chad Brown debuter Pianist for a $32.60 win tote that tripped handsome exotics and multis.

It was a great way to end what has been an outstanding meet from every perspective. I'll be back later after the scratches with a spot play or two and perhaps the late P4, but with a messy situation after driving rains all night, am quite content to end the season on yesterday's high notes. I hope everyone has enjoyed the live ATR coverage of Saratoga '11, and hasdone well at the windows with the suggestions I've offered.

Steve

1st, 5th, 6th, 11th are OFF the turf. Ecclesiastic S. (8th) + Glens Falls H. (10th) remain ON the soft lawn..

Congrats Steve on a successful meet.:tro:
Given the weather situation and the controversial NYRA p-6 rule on turf racing it appears the strategy would be to coldcock the first two legs or at least tread lightly.

Steve : Hard to believe that the meeting of the annual horse racing calendar draws to its close today. Speaking for myself, normally I am quite burned out from Saratoga at this end-of-summer point, but the energy for Saratoga still seems so high - not only from me, but many others. That says something about the quality of racing and the overall experience this season - perhaps higher than several previous years. I, for one, do not underestimate the sunnier skies over NYRA this year as driving more positive momentum than years past. Here's to hoping that even a fraction of this summer's energy carries over to the Belmont meeting!
