A lot of NYCOTBs were pretty gross, but what do you expect when you charge a surcharge on all winning wagers? You're not exactly going to attract Mensa members.

So another article generalizes ALL would-be OTB patrons as degenerates. It's just another club to hit us with by those who hate the game.

Though I'm sure like Ateam says they were gross. But the article seems to rail against the idea of easy horse betting in general, not just the specific OTB locations and their condition.

Another fine journalistic achievement by the Times. Interviewing clinically insane people and taking them seriously. Even Bad News Drape doesn't sink that far though I wouldn't doubt the Birdman being quoted in his next anti-racing piece.
