HRTV

Every Monday they show recaps of the old NBC Breeders Cup telecasts.

If you missed last weeks - you missed Meadow Star (what a freaking awesome 2yo filly year) toying with Dance Smartly and Flawlessly.

You also missed the Bayakoa VS Go For Wand Distaff.

Tune in now - and you'll catch the 1990 Breeders Cup Classic.

You can also watch The Pirates on ESPN during commericals in about a half an hour.

The 1st place Pirates!

Dispersal is the early favorite in the BC Classic.

Merrill Scherer's asst trainer of a few years ago - says he was working for Shug at the time - anyway - he was telling me he was there when Dispersal won the Woodward in 1:45 4/5 and left a trail of blood from his foot all the way back on his walk to the barn. He told me he thought it was one of the most remarkable things he'd ever seen.

That was some tough day at Belmont in '90, starting with Mr. Nickerson's heart attack..

I couldn't believe last week watching it that the lead-in part of the telecast before the Distaff was about how many good horses had been injured in 1990. Talk about ominous.

The telecast that just aired was also full of discussions on Lasix. . . very interesting.
