Congrats! You now train...

Buenos Dias.

Are you really gonna go to the Eddie Read with him or change the plans?

What would be in his best interest?

Where can he win...

..... OR...

why can't he (win)?

Run him.He could finish 5th to get the starting fee back and might get lucky.

Probably gelding him wouldn't be in his best interest.
Where can he win...
Optional claimer and it couldn't hurt to try synthetic.

He's been running over his head. He looks like a pack horse.

GooDAY!

In CA, there are all of 3 decent turf horses over a marathon distance. Those would be Acclamation, Champ Pegasus, and Bourbon Bay. Foolishly, the latter two, who could have put on a Blind Luck-Havre De Grace type rivalry all winter and spring in CA, decided to opt for Dubai, derailing their campaigns.

The rest of the bunch could just as easily run in a 12f $50K claimer (some of them probably have).

Buenas Dias, while no win machine, cannot run for allowance (a nw3x won't go) and given the connections, probably won't run for a tag if they can help it. Rightfully so, too. He's an in-and-outer who's hit the board in half of his 26 starts including the Del Mar Handicap and the Hollywood Turf Cup last year.

Personally, he probably fit better with Falcon Rock and Importante Purse yesterday in the Sunset (great CA stakes schedule we got there), but he's been making middle moves in a couple of his last 12f races, so perhaps they're hoping the cutback wakes him up a little (if he's entered). Even more likely, he's probably just staying in shape for the longer Del Mar Handicap, his best performance from last season.

I would enter him in an open 5K claimer on the turf at Suffolk - and make a $700 million show-bridgejump bet on him - because they pay a $2.20 minimum in Massachuttes.

Yeah but I'd worry you might lose it to you know who in poker. :D

Great answers you guys... thanks. I always learn from all of you on these threads.

Thrilled that this guy is NOT actually entered in the Eddie Read.

We shall see where he ends up..

Hopefully he actually wins one again some day.

Perfect prep for another placing in the Del Mar Handicap.

He won't have to worry about Bourbon Bay, almost certainly targeting the Pacific Classic after today's victory.

By the way, I don't know which horse is more gutless, Blue Chagall or his East Coast counterpart (and one-time stablemate) Loup Breton.

I wouldn't bet either horse in a $50K claimer at this point.

1. I would get the frog off his back
2. Search for races where a ton of speed is signed on and hope the race completely collapses. It's his only chance to hit the board.

I never would have entered him in that race and I sure as hell wouldn't use Blanc but I don't know what I would actually do next if he were mine...

What if he were yours?

I still stand by both of these and add to the fact that he simply isn't a Graded Stakes horse. He has a suck up 2nd and 3rd. I'm just not sure what the connections see to keep placing him in impossible spots.

my miss storm cat 11-28-2011 03:52 PM

Geez...

A G2 and with Blanc up just to make it that much worse...

Poor guy.
