FG moves LA Derby to Final Four weekend

Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans will host 60 stakes worth $7.5 million during its 2011-2012 meeting, a schedule highlighted by the $1 million Louisiana Derby on April 1, Palm Sunday, the season’s closing day. The Louisiana Derby has been moved from Saturday to Sunday to fit with college basketball’s Final Four, which will be held at the New Orleans Superdome in 2012. The tournament’s semifinal games are Saturday, the championship game Monday.

This is a great idea cause there is no games on that Sunday, and people stay for the Monday/Tuesday championship game. Will be looking for something to do that Sunday and why not go get hammered at the track and chill in the sunshine

Although, with it being Palm Sunday, isn't NY and KY dark those days (racing and OTB?)

NY is dark and that, of course, will seriously hurt their handle. KY runs on Palm Sunday.

Be curious if Fla. Derby is run on either 3/31 or 4/7 due to PS/Easter laws in multiple jurisdictions.
