Master of Hounds and Nehro

safe to say the sucker horses of the year Triple Crown and rest of the racing year.

Im defintely off the bandwagon, Coolmore was better off leaving this one with Pletcher after the Derby.

ateamstupid 06-12-2011 07:17 PM

I don't know how they're remotely comparable. Nehro ran a good second in the Derby and finished in front of the Derby and Preakness winners yesterday. Master of Hounds did nothing in either race.

I disagree, I thought they both ran well (especially Nehro) at Churchill and they get a free pass for yesterday due to the off track.

I think Dial In and Mucho Macho Man would be ahead on the so-called sucker list.

I wasn't on either bandwagon but I've gained respect for Nehro.

Hope he recovers well and is back soon.

I agree about MMM. I used him in each of the TC races. Glued on shoes and Ramon didn't appear to change anything in the Belmont. I'm officially off the train.:wf

I didn't bet Mucho Macho Man in any of the TC races but he had somewhat legitimate excuses in the Preakness and Belmont.

That being said, the horse needs time off and G2/G3 races. I'd point him to races like the WV and Super Derbies.

:tro: Spot on. I was fooled by MMM twice.

SOB cost me the Tri in the derby and I threw him in for second in the Belmont. Hate him.

Master of Hounds being bet down to 6-1 was probably the most insane thing that happened on Saturday, including the winners of the 9th through 11th races.

For the 24 hours leading up to the Belmont, I crowned Master Of Hounds the biggest underlay in the recent history of American horse racing. It might be tough to dethrone him of that any time soon.

Most of the "experts" who were picking him did so in a "shrug-your-shoulders-I-don't-really-know-which-way-to-go-in-here-but-not-Animal-Kingdom-I'm-really-not-sure" kinda way, which is the WORST part about it. It's not like he was fifth clear four lengths of the sixth place horse in the Derby, it was a three-way nosebob. One dive to the rail in the final sixteenth and a few replay watches later...

It just made no sense, especially in light of the O'Brien numbers, the constant traveling, all of it.

I thought MOH, with his incredible dosage numbers, was an immortal lock in the Belmont.

I guess he couldn't overcome his trainer.

you were right all along about this horse, for some reason the people like me who stuck with him thought his was UAE Derby was the stuff of legends..lol boy was I fooled. Plus all the traveling the horse did like you mentioned was pure insanity looking back on it. Ireland to Dubai to make first start, then Ireland to USA for KY Derby, then back to Ireland, then NY to run in Belmont. Poor horse was better off running in Europe

Yeah, I love Steve Crist's work, but I thought his pre-Belmont column in which he picked Master of Hounds with basically no justification, then said that Nehro had a better trip than Mucho Macho Man in the Derby, was bizarre.

Gate Dancer 06-13-2011 12:58 PM

The only smart thing I did all Saturday was dump MOH off all my tickets once the track started getting sloppy. Rail post assured him of taking the worst of it. Never was impressed with his Derby anyway.

slotdirt 06-13-2011 01:05 PM

The best part on Saturday was seeing Master of Hounds go for a good European-style mile or so warmup before the race. At what point during that little exercise do you think Gomez said to himself "I immediately regret this decision."

At least Zayat has Justin Phillip still.
