I love that Ward is quoted in this, who's horses are able to race about 3 times a year.

interesting... so Big Brown was eased up because he had stopped Winstrol before the race?

Hmm I guess the nasty quarter crack and missed training had nothing to do with it.

How did this guy Drake get this job?

I agree with the article on steroids having a negative effect on racing.

"Steroids were a part of the chemistry that most believe contributed to Big Brown running a faster Ragozin Sheets number in the Derby than Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed — the last three Triple Crown champions."

Hey, are any of you guys part of the "most" in that sentence? I don't recall being asked. Most who? What about any of the horses in that race that were on steroids but finished up the track? I didn't see a chart that the top X finishers were on steroids but the rest weren't and that's why they finished so poorly. He seems to only care about the horse that was on steroids and won. Then there's that pesky problem of Eight Belles who was, wait for it, not on steroids.

This is simply the usual propaganda from the self proclaimed "do-gooders" who think nothing of dragging the sport through the mud to try to continue their PR campaign.

Taking a single raw time on a single race and using it to "prove" a theory?

I guess we should just erase the last 30 years from the history books.

So maybe John Ward will give back his Derby Trophy, won in such a fast time because the win was clearly a product of a steroid fueled Monarchos who has been a bust at stud. You know because if he didn't live up to expectation at stud then surely he was just a drug fueled fraud. The "weakened breed" and gene theory.

These people will sink to any low to try to keep their agenda alive. I laugh at those who fall for it. I cry when I think that these dopes actually think this continued muckraking campaign is a good thing.

The most ironic thing? That now supposedly the KY hardboots are happy because lesser pedigreed horses won the first 2 legs of the triple Crown. You know everybody knows how sound Forestry's have been...

Yeah Joe, Forestry is a stallion that we should all be modeling our breeding programs after...

You can't make this **** up
