Del Mar Seeks Oak Tree, BC

The Oak Tree Racing Association wants to run a fall meeting at the Del Mar Racetrack in 2012, a move that could lead to the Breeders’ Cup coming to the seaside track within four to five years.

Craig Fravel, president and general manager of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, said he met recently with officials from the Oak Tree Association. Fravel’s name also is being mentioned as a successor to Greg Avioli as the CEO of Breeders’ Cup Limited, which runs the event.

If you read the latest NY Times propaganda ALL the tracks should be synthetic.

VOL JACK 06-08-2011 10:35 AM

Why would the NYT have a good opinion on anything they print?

I will not bet a single BC Poly race again. Turf yes, but Poly no. They will feel the impact.

Just what the sport needs, another Breeder's Cup on a California synthetic track.

Breeders' Cup for Del Mar, but only if they return to racing on dirt?

Strictly as a destination, having a Breeders Cup at Del Mar would be pretty awesome.

Aside from the surface, what I like about Churchill Downs and Belmont Park is the racetrack layout allows for fair races. The stretch at Del Mar is really short, and it changes the complexion of the race more than you think. But I'm a dork, and probably one of a few people who think about it like that.

A Breeders Cup at Del Mar would quite possibly be the best news ever :)

For the Euro plodders maybe Brock

I hate the thought of having it at Del Mar and although SA is my home track I'm just waiting for Belmont to host it again.

That was the best all the way around. :)

While I would love it at Belmont, it's always been my believe CD should be the ONLY place the BC is held.
