Shetan

I fully realize this was a maiden $30K claimer at Delaware Park, but if anyone has the chance, watch the replay of today's 4th race. Shetan, a 3 yr old son of Johar, making his 1st start on the turf, makes a move you just don't see very often.

Have no idea what this one does going forward, but this race was pretty amazing.

Holy Cow Seth, that was very impressive one to keep an eye. Thanks for the tip.

That's a pretty impressive move !!!

Another Delaware grass race to keep an "eye on" was last Monday -
5/30 - 5th race

Great Harbour ran a hot pace and was still ridden out in good time.. I had the splits as:

23.91/23.79/23.52/24.22/5.98 - You don't see that too often either

Port Conway Lane 06-05-2011 08:56 AM

Most likely the 5th race on june 21st or the 8th race on june 29th. If he wants to place him way over his head the 8th race on june 27th.

Weather permitting, back in the 8th today at Delaware park, 7.5 furlongs on the turf. No published works since his last race.

Sloppy and off, Shetan is scratched.

Edit: Reentered in the 9th on Sunday at Parx

golfer 07-13-2011 05:57 AM

Entered again in today's 8th at Delaware. Based on his recent scratches, whether he runs or not is anybody's guess. Has only 1 published work since his race on June 4th, that was 4 days ago, and it was a good one.

I'll definitely be watching, I don't know about betting.

golfer 07-13-2011 03:38 PM

Considering the trip/ride he got from Jose Carraballo, he should have scratched again:( Can't imagine getting a worse trip in a 6 horse race. More than happy to bet him back next time providing ANYONE else is riding.

I don't think trip would've made a difference. . . he was headstrong throughout and was never really moving smoothly. He might have a physical problem.

I think physical issues is a good bet, based on the fronts he showed up with today, didn't have them when he broke his maiden.

Hard to say he wouldn't have finished better with a better trip. 4 wide in a 4 horse line-up after a 50 second half is not the best place to be under any circumstances. He certainly set up the 2 horses sitting in the back, they finished 1-2.

I'll give him another shot, especially if the front wraps come off, at what should be a fair price based on this result.

hockey2315 07-13-2011 04:10 PM

Ya. . . I was sort of surprised he was as big a price today as he was. Would be a huge price next time if he runs back in another allowance.
