Randy 'Macho Man' Savage Dies

Pro Wrestler Randy 'Macho Man' Savage Dies in Car Accident, Report Says

The accident happened in Tampa Bay, Fla. according to Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo.

He told TMZ the accident happened Friday morning when Savage lost control of his vehicle.

Savage, 58, had just celebrated his first wedding anniversary with his wife Lynn.

Savage helped put WWF wrestling on the map, becoming, along with Hulk Hogan, one of its biggest draws.

This is sad news, my heart goes out to his wife and family. The Macho Man was one of wrestling's biggest stars back when it was actually enjoyable to watch....RIP!

Sorry to hear this.

He was great in the ring. Very entertaining. I remember him when he was with Miss Elizabeth.

This thread really should be in the sports thread, cause everyone knows that wrestling is real.........................

I have to wonder if his last words were "I'm coming Elizabeth"

More likely they were "I hope some jerkoff doesn't make an unfunny joke about me and my ex."

Too late.

His match with Ricky Steamboat at Wrestlemania III has to be one of the four or five best matches of all time. Granted I haven't watched much WWF in the last 10 years, but when I was a kid, Randy Savage was one of my favorites. Another great moment:

I think he just answered his own.."but what do I know?"

When I think of the Macho Man, it takes me back to when I was an avid fan instead of an occasional viewer...I remember attending matches at the Scope in Norfolk watching a still young Rick Flair and the Minnesota Wrecking Crew, the Road Warriors, the Grahams, Free Birds, Dusty Rhodes...the list goes on and on. Earlier I was hooked by the original Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, Johnny Valentine, Haystacks Calhoun, BoBo Brazil and others. I think wrestling reached it's "golden era" with Macho, Hulk, Andre, Flair, the Ultimate Warrior, a young Undertaker, Steamboat and others....Stone Cold and the Rock continued the tradition but today it just doesn't entertain as much...the Undertaker's persona has gotten old, the Rock and Stone Cold are off making movies and to a lesser degree, so is the Big Show. I try but so often I find it boring today.
