Uncle Mo Decision Mid-Day Saturday? (SCR appears certain)

How about this story...

Uncle Mo is to resume training Wednesday after getting Tuesday off. (He and Stay Thirsty jogged Monday, the day after they worked five furlongs together.) World-renowned equine internist Doug Byars, who has overseen Uncle Mo’s treatment for the inflammation, is scheduled to examine the colt again Thursday.

“We are putting the horse first, which I do for Uncle Mo or Gerard Loves Beer,” Repole wrote, referring to a cheap claimer he has who is 1 for 14.

Repole said the final decision on running Uncle Mo in the Derby “could be made as late as Saturday mid-day,” which would be well after wagering on the Derby begins at 9:30 Friday.

And, Repole said, “If he runs, he will be (the) favorite.”

I really feel like dinner and a beer with Mike Repole would be a lot of fun.

Sounds encouraging.

Stoopers everywhere are rejoicing.

I love his comments. He doesn't beat around the bush...

randallscott35 05-03-2011 08:21 PM

He will scratch, return with a win in the Jim Dandyl, finish last in the Travers, then retire.

This is bull shite. Announce, just be honest if it is that close of a call scratch now.

PatCummings 05-04-2011 08:42 AM

And Sway Away's connections are officially going crazy.

Linny 05-04-2011 08:45 AM

If he's not right at entry time, don't enter. Not that I'm a big Sway Away fan (or that I generally think that horse #21 on the earning list "deserves" to be in the gate) but how obnoxious for the owners of the horse that's one back on the list?

Thunder Gulch 05-04-2011 08:45 AM

As if it wasn't already a circus. I'm a huge fan of what he did last year, but you just can't bet this horse now, right?

MaTH716 05-04-2011 08:55 AM

Anyone think that Repole just craves all the atttention?

The horses has not been "right" all year? lol

dellinger63 05-04-2011 09:00 AM

I get it now. He's going to make him the favorite on at least pic 3 and pic 4 tickets by scratching.

Ya think? I heard he is producing a movie currently titled Mike Repole,"The most interesting man in the World"

Sightseek 05-04-2011 09:08 AM

Who running in the Derby isn't looking for attention?

The point I am trying to make is that maybe Repole really has no intentions of scratching Uncle Mo, he just wants even more attention that he was going to garner anyway. Kind of like the whole handicapping world holding their collective breaths waiting for Repole's decision.

I think he wants the attention but they know they have to scratch. He just wants to be in the spotlight until Saturday when his other horse runs up the track.
