Opening night tonight at Churchill Downs drew a crowd of over 38,000.

Was a tremendously festive atmosphere and seemingly a mammoth success however you looked at it. I left after the 9th and they were still coming in. A wide array of ages too.

It was a perfect night for racing with great weather. I cannot image the what the crowd would have been with slots. Great atmosphere there last night

And it wasnt a particulary good card either except for maybe the derby trial
