His father's legacy is such that he is cemented in with these people at Turfway, and the guys at CDSP - the simo company at Churchill Downs - think he is "the man" and has a brand because he does the Breeders' Cup on NBC - thus they think he is famous and that is why they use him for handicapping in between races...(don't ask what the level of horse racing knowledge is with CDSP decision-making group because I don't want to have to post it to be rude towards them)..

He is a nice enough guy, but him, the guy from Lone Star and Terry Wallace are the worst announcers in horse racing...PERIOD...

On top of that, when was the last time he or Bob Newburg ever picked a winner when telecasting the Breeders' Cup on NBC? Seriously, can anybody tell me?...I pay attention and laugh every year hoping they can finally get off the shnide....A bunch of us at CD used to sit and watch and laugh at their selections when they made them....

..I think neither one has picked a winner in the last 2 or 3 Breeders' Cups.....:eek:

The best thing about ESPN getting the BC is getting Battaglia off the air. It's not so much that he rarely picks a winner but more that he offers absolutely zero insight. I heard him say recently something akin to " this is a wide open race " and then, of course, picked the two favorites. That will help bring more fans into the game.
