SA Derby Beyer

Was it revised upward from a 95 to a 97? I'm seeing both numbers for the winner.

Yes. Perhaps he will upgrade it to a 100 so that we will have a prep with a triple digit beyer. :)

Dr Roman gave the winner a -36 (compared to Archarcharch's -53 in Ark Derby).

Well, that certainly changes everything.

Just shows the difference between Beyer and Roman...Beyer has 97/98 making the two winners pretty much equal...you can determine for yourself which is a better indicator of the two races.

The difference between Beyer and Roman is that one is useful and one is not.

and that depends on one's opinion as to which is which (although unlike you, I'm not closed minded and recognize the value of Beyers for minor stakes, alw and claiming races).

" Closed minded " is short for, in this case, people that recognize BS when they see it.

Just curious, why are Beyers only useful for those specific types of races?

Cannon Shell 04-22-2011 03:46 PM

Can someone tell me what Dr. Roman has for Hippocrates Jones last race?

They aren't...I just prefer PF's for major stake races because they are available. Dr Roman isn't in the business of providing PF's for all horses/races...he focuses on the major stake races while Andy and his group cover all of racing. If PF's were available for the 4th at Penn National, I'd probably use them. I'm not putting BSF's down, they have revolutionized handicapping and are excellent (as Dr Roman readily admits). I simply have better luck with PF's in the Derby and a few other grade 1's. Folks who call them BS have probably never used them...easier to be critical than do the work.

I'm going to start keeping track of how many times Somer calls someone closed minded.

Over/under for the rest of the year is 100.
