Church & State

How does government money go to re-building a church? Blago got lucky on this one and gave it to a worthless private school with no religious affiliation. And that went great!!! Get government out of EVERYTHING but governing!

Chicago is ethically handicapped.

Why do some people apply a religious test for being President of the United States, even though the constitution specifically says otherwise?

Yeah, really Riot! F your constitution. All of us real American patriots, with a heaping of help from the Big Guy above, would like to restore this country to what it once was (after we destroyed the heathen Indians). Our plan has no room for a science minded, rational individual. It has to come from someone with the same superstitions as us;)

Not sure your question had anything to do with the post but I'll answer it anyway.

Some religions are prejudiced against women and other religions and inherently violent and barbaric.

I agree with you that there is no religious test for becoming President but there are voters who want no part of someone who would be a follower of what some religions espouse. Like a father killing his daughter to preserve his honor. Or a group in the name of religion beheading a group of volunteer workers because a book was burned half way around the world.

I agree to a degree but your talking about extremist views, I don't want a right wing fundamentalist President who would attack gays and want to repeal civil rights laws either. I have nothing against the idea of a President who embraces Islam, or is Jewish, follower of Buddha etc. It's the quality of the individual that's important.

I wouldn't want a President that would attack gays and repeal civil rights either. However I wouldn't say gay and civil rights are on the top of the agenda for Islamic countries either. In fact Iran has gone on record for having no gays in their country at all. :zz:

Funny how you have nothing against Islam and their actions/views but do against some right wing fundamentalist who doesn't even exist.

Have you visited the Westboro site? Of course those type exist. I have nothing against any organized religion only those who pervert the teachings of same. There are many followers of Islam who live in this country and are no different than you or me. Religion is not the enemy, evil people are...and they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and professed religious ideologies. Again, it's the individual that counts not what box we can put him/her in.

How many heads have they cut off? They kill their daughters for honor? Their women drive, go out unescorted? Just some little differences.

somerfrost 04-22-2011 06:48 PM

That wasn't the context of my mentioning Westboro, they are hate filled radicals who pervert Christianity and through their hate filled speech encourage violence against gays. Nobody, especially me, is trying to equate their vile behavior to radical Islamic murderers of innocent people. My point is that every religion has evil folks who pervert same for their own purposes. The fact that murderers who hide behind Islam exist is no reason to deny law abiding citizens who worship Allah rights enjoyed by law abiding citizens who worship the Christian version of God.

Strange you'd even bring it up then.

Is a father who arranges a marriage for a 16 yr old daughter vile? If he kills her because she dates on her own? Is he radical?

You keep beating the same drum, nobody is denying there are evil people who do bad things...the fact that some followers of a perverted form of Islam do evil does not mean that all followers of Islam are evil.

Mike 04-22-2011 09:14 PM

If Christians are going to take the stance that extremist positions of other religions are what should be focused on, it greatly concerns me that these same Christians may well side with the most vile of their number, and permit the most irrational beliefs of their faith to flourish

Paleazzzze....Many American Muslims love the Gay Rights as much as you do? Have to say, when it comes to Muslims, Conservatives actually use their brains. Liberals/ Progressives use their hearts.

There are also common muslims here and abroad who act like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WptpG_yVUI

If the muslims were like me they wouldn't allow this to take place among their own. They'd rally around their victims and seek punishment and expulsion to the attackers. Very similar to how we're treating our pervert priests. From now on every priest has the entire parishes' eyes and ears open and focussed on any potential future crimes. It's not the individual priest's fault directly it's because they as a whole refused to do anything and looked the other way covering for each other. The blind Iman from NYC that blew up the world trade center had a huge following at his mosque where he preached his hatred for America. They everday muslim folk? Unless they act from within to demand the barbaric acts and prejudices stop they should have all American eyes and ears focussed on them until they come into the 20th much more 21st century. Somewhere in our constitution a young woman must be guaranteed the right to choose who she will marry. At least while on American soil no?

Or should muslim fathers be able to choose for and kill their daughters while American mothers are forbidden to pack their children school lunches? :D

I think I was clear regarding the scum that choose for and kill their daughters, I have absolutely nothing but disgust for these creatures and would gladly package them up and send them to Yemen.....

Muslim update sensitivity at its best. For Riot I think I'll start a Muslim update per day thread. Those who seperate and pray to the east 3 times a day need to come foward less be included with those that see fit decide who their daughters marry.

That's a blatant attempt to shift.
