Sorry to hear this but not surprised. Sadly he didn't get to see Rachel's first foal.

TouchOfGrey 04-21-2011 10:07 AM

I know this was not unexpected, but I am still very sad.

Sad to hear. He was a pretty unusual and remarkable man obviously, and most in racing came to appreciate his sizeable contributions to the industry. When things were at their worst in the sales ring over the last couple years, he jumped in and helped prop up the numbers, knowing it was unlikely he'd be able to enjoy the purchases for too long. No matter what you thought of his understanding of the sport and its' history, it's impossible to deny that the game is diminished by his passing.

Very sad news, condolences to his family.

He gave a lot to the sport, and to a number of good causes. His was a full life, and he will be well remembered.

RIP.

Well said.

The industry has now lost arguably two of the biggest owners this year.

How sad to hear. He loved the horses and horse racing, and was good for the sport. Condolences to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear, Jackson did more good for the game than bad. RIP.

RIP....he did a lot for racing and his passing diminishes the sport.

Sad news. He played the sport at the highest level and his stable made a great team.

It took me aback to read this. Even though we knew it was coming sooner rather than later, I somehow expected Jess Jackson to live forever. Talk about a life full of passion. I'm sorry he didn't get to see Rachel's foal by Curlin. Having the two of them to race and breed together is a pretty amazing run if he'd done nothing else. He sure made it count, didn't he? RIP.

Very well stated Steve. The sport will miss him.

I hope Stonestreet Farms will have continued success in its racing and breeding operations. Jess Jackson ruffled some feathers, but the industry has benefitted from his contributions.

RIP

He made it interesting. Glad he got to see Curlin and Racheal.
