Scapegoat Alert! Velazquez takes the Life@10 fall
|
I don't think that really has anything to do with the investigation into what happened to her.
|
I'm sure all the bettors who lost money on her, feel so much better now.
 |
Yeah, the jockey who is with the horse for a total of maybe 30 minutes before a race should clearly be the one to blame. Not the trainer or his/her assistants who spend most of the time with the animal. A complete hypocrisy.

This decision has nothing to do with that.

Is it that they are giving JV a slap on the wrist while closing the investigation against him so he is free and clear to ride in the derby? |

I don't agree with the fine but I do place some blame on JV. He clearly realized and admitted that there was something not right with the horse. He should have notified the track vet and demanded to speak with TP prior to going into the gate. Plenty races are held up with horses not going into the gate, or a shoe falls off, or broken equipment, or a jockey change. No big deal to cause a few minute delay. He could have insisted on a minute with TP to discuss his concerns. Then it's TP's problem to deal with.
Again, not blaming JV totally but in my mind he's the last defense prior to walking the horse into the gate. |
