AP Derby Top 10

http://www.kentucky.com/2011/03/28/1...-aps-top.html#

Stay Thirsty is #4 - he had a great week - reportedly couldn't pass his workmate and Pletcher is hoping he just didn't like behind inside... there goes any edge using Dominguez on a longshot might offer.

Pants on Fire is #7 - I laughed. It's like they employ guys who've never watched a horse race before.

Animal Kingdom is #9 - Wow.

Twice the Appeal is #10 - facepalm.

Indian Charlie 03-28-2011 11:50 AM

He did get #1 right!

Is this guy the same richard rosenblatt behind myspace?

Imagine the price on Pants On Fire had he not been coupled. It was a million dollar race. Fail for Fair Grounds.

I'm honestly surprised that Brethern isn't on the list.

randallscott35 03-28-2011 01:14 PM

Can't wait for this year's Stately Victor to emerge.

OTM Al 03-28-2011 01:33 PM

Another flavor of the week poll, though I must say looking at the money list as things stand right now it's going to be easy to draw lines through a lot of them so honestly I'd have trouble after about the first 5....this actually is beginning to have the makings of a good shot for a TC winner with as many weak horses pretty much being locked into slots already.

randallscott35 03-28-2011 01:33 PM

I've got Sweet Yucky still 6th. He'll bounce back.

The obvious candidate for that in this crop will likely win the Derby and fall apart from there. Due to his lack of campaigning.

This is a lot better than the ones Haskin is touting in his column this morning...but hey, what do I know? Maybe Crimson China, Elite Alex, and Astrology showed enough in defeat to questionable fields to move up on everyone's list.

Has Astrology even cracked an 80 BSF yet? It is beyond me why this horse is on any list including a placing pick in a NW2X...

You'll get your Stately Victor because the big names on the trail are going for dirt races, meaning the Bluegrass will be ripe for one of those Turfway type slugs to step in and get the earnings.

Travis Stone 03-29-2011 09:25 AM

With each passing week the crop gets more and more questionable...

Each passing weak the top 4-5 horses seem to separate themselves even more...sometimes without even running.

That's called addition by subtraction.

Indian Charlie 03-29-2011 10:20 AM

Other than Mo, I think the more talented runners have revealed themselves later, rather than earlier.

Maybe the Derby isn't going to be a stellar race, but the races later on in the fall, and maybe even into next year, those could be very nice.

To Honor and Serve will beat Uncle Mo like a rented mule in the Derby.

Maybe but he better get a lot faster fast. To date this looks like the Big Brown Derby, a bunch of crap chasing the one fast colt.

No offense intended, but that is one of the most ridiculous opinions posted on DT this year.

You are not serious, right?

I don't like Uncle Mo in the Derby. I do like To Honor and Serve until I see otherwise. Yes I'm serious.

Indian Charlie 03-29-2011 11:07 AM

At this point, for THAS to win the derby, it would take a scenario identical to the 1980 Woodward stakes, won by Spectacular Bid.
