16K claim last time out - to Graded Stakes win?

Has a horse ever been claimed for 16K or less - and won a Graded Stakes race next time out?

This came within a neck of happening today in the Grade 2 Tampa Derby - when Crimson Knight had to settle for second in a hard fought battle.

The Tampa Derby outcome was an absolute tragedy for gamblers who realized Bretheren was a complete pig - running all 84 figures with very soft trips ... however ... there was nothing even remotely reasonable to play against him with in that spot today.

What was Dearest Tricksie's streak into a Graded stakes win like? I know she was claimed for about $12.5k at Del Mar before her massive tear.

I'm pretty sure she was claimed for 32K at Del Mar and took a few races before she captured a Graded Stake race. She might have been claimed for 12.5K back in the Southwest region when she raced there.

I don't remember if Shaggy Mane was claimed - but she made a similar run.

43-1 over 86-1 and the Super pays 19 K... I would say that shows the impact of the Dime Supers for you. How many would have those in the top 2 at 1.00 increment.

They could have included the winner off the Davis. (I used Beamer and Too Experience, but not Watch Me Go.) But the runner up? Uh, doubtful. (Make that impossible.)

I had a 5 horse Box that also included the winner but the only way I would have gotten the second horse would have been a 9 horse box ;). If the base bet was a buck not too many would have had him in the top 2.

It was a heckuva race from a fan standpoint. The underdogs triumphed.

I know one guy that was touting Crimson Knight to hit the board, but that idiot thought he would be on the lead the whole way and get caught late.

Don't think she did it, but reminds me of Xtra Heat....can anyone post her lifetime pp's? I'd like to see them from the very beginining....

This was Xtra Heat's form before she started to get incredibly good...

She actually went from being wildly overrated to truly underrated.

What is your basis for calling her "wildly overrated"? Her 30-1 odds in the BC? Her 8-1 odds in her first graded win? Or the fact that she wasn't favored at Keeneland despite having won 11 of 12?

I'm not being a wiseguy here, serious question, did you follow racing closely when she was running?

I was at Belmont when she ran in the BC Sprint.

I'm sorry, what am I missing?

Were you following racing closely during her career?

I see your point...I was there at Belmont for the Sprint as well, but I was fairly clueless back then about racing, just knew that I liked her from seeing her in MD. I'm just a little less clueless now :D
