Is astrology shipping out of California for his next race?

1 prep is what I have read. Santa Anita Derby then Kentucky Derby. Its really actually brillant, the horse is a slug and he is being treated like that Dutrow a year or so back. The Dutrow is still running now at Gulfstream I forget the name though, I do know Nick Tammaro loved him in the Derby. Its still on my FB wall like 200 clicks back, Nick saying what a big jockey change to Prado it was.

Says tonight on the DRF and Bloodhorse that Astrology may wind up in the Rebel with The Factor (the Factor is a definite)

Oh, the homeboy kris route?
Astrology hasn't impressed me, either. If they really only are giving him one prep, he must have some physical issues. He's been in california all winter, why not run him there?

He has done nothing to say he is a legit 3yr old. He is slow. A horse like Santiva was slow though and he came back and ran really well first back. Maybe Astrology can move way up off of his 2yr old form, he certainly has the pedigree.

The San Felipe is expected to have a field of nine. Aside from Awesome Patriot, Comma to the Top and Jaycito, the probable starters are Albergatti, Bench Points, Jakesam, Premier Pegasus, Runflatout and Surrey Star. On Monday at Santa Anita, Runflatout worked six furlongs in 1:10.40, the best of 14 works at the distance, and Albergatti breezed a half-mile in 49.80.

Runflatout will probably make or break me with the only entry I got down in the RoadtotheRoses contest.

The whole strategy was to not use Uncle Mo, Dialed In, and a few other big names just yet. Most people eliminated themselves by taking them now when they're worthless to have.

Had just four for the 1st week (Flashpoint, Travelin Man, To Honor and Serve and Soldat) - had Stay Thirsty last week - have Runflatout, Jaycito, and the miserable Bretheran this week. Only used Elite Alex for the Rebel. Went with Alan Garcia as my 2nd jock hoping for a Fountain of Youth, Fla Derby double with Soldat. Baffert and Pletcher the two trainers.

If Runflatout and Elite Alex both win - I'm gold in that sucker. Flashpoint going to the Swale would help ... I don't want to see Uncle Mo or Dialed In get sidelined - before the end of March - but that would be a strategic coup.

Wow, how do you sleep at night with all of this stress?

One of the other threads mentioned Blind Luck was going to Oaklawn for the Grade 3 Azeri. Hollendorfer could choose to run Washington Bridge instead.

RolloTomasi 03-08-2011 05:29 PM

If The Factor is really going to Oaklawn, I would anticipate Sway Away showing up in the San Felipe, too.

Not sure how to take The Factor re-route. Is Baffert balking at the 9f distance of the Sunland Park Derby, or is he wanting to run The Factor back in the Santa Anita Derby (giving him a chance to prove himself a viable Derby candidate) if he's successful in the Rebel?

HaloWishingwell 03-08-2011 06:18 PM

I'm trying to like Premier Pegasus but that jockey/trainer combo is scary

That horse made his debut in late July last year, IIRC, yet has just 4 starts to his credit. He was also mentioned for the Hollywood Futurity in mid-December, then the Sham in mid-January, before finally showing up last month with a modest effort.

He's a horse that appears to thrive on vacations.

I only know because a friend of mine is loosely involved with Sway Away that he is definitely going to the Rebel. Gomez committed to ride him.

It was kind of curious that Baffert said speed dominates at Sunland. I don't follow it regularly but from what I've seen it's an incredibly fair track. He also said he's taking Euroears to Dubai because he's fast and you have to take fast horses there. I'm not sure he was aware it's on synthetics now and being "fast" is no edge. Kinsale King won the thing for crissakes.
