Flower Alley is done

I hope they retire this horse. Something obviously has been wrong with this horse all year and they weren't saying that. He is not a very good horse any longer. Too bad. Looks like Bernardini's only competition is Invasor and I really don't see Invasor with a shot.

He looked done in the Whitney to me and I was raked over the coals when I siad that after that race....today, he showed that he is done for sure....A good, class horse - like he was at 3 - doesn't need to have excuses why they fade bad to 7th beaten 9 lengths (in the Whitney)...they just don't...Pletcher had him fit and ready or he wouldn't have run him in there...that was always the target for him, so when he didn't fire there I knew he was probably done.

I have thought all along that he has been fighting some sort of injury - although his connections wouldn't admit it....That is likely the real reason it took him so long to get back to the races this year as a 4-year-old....Something is probably nagging him physically, or maybe he has just lost interest, which is hard for me to believe of a horse that is happy and healthy....Afterall, he is lightly raced for his age and was a late developer last year, so why is he now over the top?...He shouldn't be.....not going to comment what I saw and thought of him when he was training at CD the weeks leading up to the Derby when Pletcher's string was there because it will make some people here on this forum mad and it isn't cool to spread speculation anyway, but it doesn't surpirse me that he is not running well.....

I bet he retires soon....

maybe st liam broke his heart in the bcc last year.....

Or maybe when he won the Salvator Mile ...

... he was overwhelmed by the beauty of New Jersey ... and now won't run anywhere else.

Hey ... the Breeder's Cup is at Monmouth next year ... horses for courses!

That was another reason I knew that barn was a little shaky on the horse...they gave him such a cupcake return in his late seasonal debut, having to ship a horse of his stature to Monmouth Park for a minor stakes race in the Salvator Mile - no disrespect to that race....

They were giving off negative signs all year about this horse...you just had to pay attention at actions and not listen to the bull**** they were telling the media...

As you may have noticed on another thread ...

... talking B.S. to the media ... is now a crucial part of being a success as a trainer ... and Pletcher can ladle it on with the best of them.
