CHRB/Santa Anita Stupidity at it's finest

R3 1/9/10 (SA) (3 horse race)
$1.00 Exacta 4-1 $1.50
$1.00 Trifecta 4-1-2 $1.50

Travis Stone 01-09-2011 03:45 PM

Did you hit it?

Alan07 01-09-2011 03:46 PM

I didn't bet it.

hockey2315 01-09-2011 03:47 PM

Feels like an overlay.

Kasept 01-09-2011 03:50 PM

I'm curious what the CHRB has to do with a short field in a graded stake?

Alan07 01-09-2011 03:59 PM

They are the ones that make the rules.

Uh huh. And? Try to flesh out a point...

Alan07 01-09-2011 04:20 PM

The point is there should be no tri wagering on a 3 horse field.

Let HANA know. I'm sure they'll put it on their priority list.

Respectfully, the way it works with HANA is Alan would need to email the track and call them and then they would follow up for him. Hana does not iniatiate confrontation they simple request follow ups on behalf of players? lol

Wait a minute, a 1-20 shot combined with the clear 2nd choice returned 1-2 in the exacta and people are b.itching?

Really, who cares?

Rule #5 at work, or to paraphrase Obi Wan Kenobi, "Who is the bigger fool, the fool or the guy who bets on the three horse race he runs?"

Alan07 01-09-2011 05:13 PM

Big win bet on the #4 in the 6th cancelled before race goes off.

eajinabi 01-09-2011 05:14 PM

CHRB is to balme? Its the suckers that bet it that get the idiot prize.

I just looked up the chart for race 3 at SA yesterday, and as strange as it is that the trifecta was not cancelled on a three horse field, to me it's stranger still that a $1 tri paid $1.50 when the race finished in odds order.

A 50% yield on the most popular combination, and with no extra runners in the race?

What am I missing? Did many people make the point to put the longshot first in their combo due to the short field?

The payoff was identical also to the exacta.

Think about that one a minute.
