Predictions for 2011

Does anyone have any?

Snow Fairy, Music Show, Amazing Win and Singapore Lilly will be names fans all over the world know by the end of the year (and yeah I realize Snow Fairy is already there but she'll continue to obliterate fields whether she goes to Dubai, HK or both).

There will be one HK representative in the BC Mile or the Sprint.

Drosselmeyer will be HOY. (Hey why not? I never said they had to be realistic predictions.... just anything that could possibly happen). :D

Who wants to go next?

I predict that My Miss Storm Cat will start a 2011 predictions thread....

wait, oh ****, am I too late with this prediction? Damn.

Oh well, I guess we can call this a redboard:)

my miss storm cat 12-29-2010 04:44 PM

Bad you.

Now you need to go sit in the corner reserved for redboarders.

(Oh wait, is there any room left there?) :p

Prediction svp?

C'mon. You know you want to...

MISTERGEE 12-29-2010 04:51 PM

I predict there will be trainers in 2011 who will win between 40% & 60% of their races and who will take ordinary run of the mill claimers and elevate them to stakes winning status improving in leaps and bounds...oops

GPK 12-29-2010 04:51 PM

One, maybe ONE of EC's 2yo's will break its maiden...but I'm not counting on it.

I suggest wolverhampton will win the premiership

Pletcher will have at least horses in the Kentucky Derby.

A relatively little known trainer will have a horse in the Derby.

Count on it. Some of that heart needed to find its way on down the line.

NTamm1215 12-30-2010 03:00 PM

Uncle Mo won't make the starting gate for the Derby.

Blind Luck will win at least 4 GI races.

Rift will win a Grade I.

Santa Anita and every major meet nationwide will be down nearly double digits in terms of handle because outside of NY people have no idea how strong NYCOTB was handle-wise.

Goldikova will be the star of the 2011 BC.

Morning Line will be the 2011 HOTY.

Capt. Candyman Can will win the 2011 BC Sprint (Let me be a little wishful).

Smiling Tiger will win the 2011 Dubai Golden Shaheen.

Twirling Candy will win the 2011 Santa Anita Handicap then go to Dubai.

People will still be talking about Zenyatta.

Calvin Borel will NOT win the Derby.

Ramon Dominguez will break his TC/BC losing streak.

Monmouth and NJ racing will look a lot more like 2009 than 2010.

Chuck Simon will win a record number of races for the NTamm stables that will be created after I hit the Mega Millions tomorrow night.

I will be at Saratoga for the Whitney (that's a safe one).

Prince Will I Am will win multiple Grade Is.

To Honor and Serve will win a TC race and be champion 3YO.

OK, these should be fun to look at in a year or so.

Good Luck with that.

My prediction - or at least my hope - is that horse racing (whoever that is) starts to make meanginful strides towards making the moves everyone knows it needs to make, but that no one wants to try and figure out how to make them.

How's that for a loaded statement?

In other words...

People are not gambling as much period - on cards, slots, horses etc... hoping they suddenly start to again, or at least to the levels they did in the past, is wishful thinking. You can't make money in the past. Racing's handle has dropped from $14.7 billion to $12.3 billion in five years... where does it go from here and what is "horse racing" going to do about it.

I predict you will have a thread about horses that die..
