12/15: Aqueduct (1st-9th)

Couldn't get the 6 winners on one ticket Sunday in the shockingly paultry $880 sextet, but rang up steady sequence of exotics hits including two $110+ triples that helped level out the weekend nicely. While third choice for me in the eighth race, Speightful Affair was simply not a horse worth including on multis as she was very unlikely to win. She did, and it killed the P4 and a chance for a P6 conso... So be it. You're always going to be better off long term trying to get worthwhile overlays into your P3's, P4's and P6's than underlays. I had piled up some nice hits earlier on the card, so missing the small prizes wasn't too exasperating. Hope you did well Sunday after the lousy Saturday. Not necessarily a scintillating card at Aqueduct to start the week, but there are some interesting spots...

Little known fact.. John Tuturro had a two bit role in the Yonker Raceway scene..How hot was Mrs Gretzky?

BTW Serling would have made a horrible exotic car salesman

Look at the cinema chops on Freddy!

Turturo was just getting noticed in the mid-80's. Would add credits in To Live in and Die in L.A., Gung Ho and The Color of Money before Do the Right Thing (1989) and Miller's Crossing (1990) made him huge..

Also viewable in bit roles in The Flamingo Kid?

Marisa Tomei in her first credited role, a full 8 years before My Cousin Vinny..

Bronson Pinchot, the same year as his turn in Beverly Hills Cop as Serge..

Steven Weber, a full 6 years before Wings..

And don't forget Leon as Fortune, almost 10 years before Cool Runnings..

Dahoss 12-15-2010 03:02 PM

The Flamingo Kid is one of my favorites. Excellent job by Andy today.

His sitcom work (The Odd Couple, Mork & Mindy, Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley) is among the best in television history and gave rise to a peck of outstanding writers/directors including his own sister Penny and Ron Howard. On the big screen, it's hard to argue with his effort helming Pretty Woman.

Goes with the territory... Late one required some expanded backup play to hit as the Rudy horse was certainly the kind you would put on one. But the early P4 was unhittable for me as I wouldn't have used the Smokin Mel maiden winner.

Isnt Penny his sister?

Yourself, Serling and Tammaro all had Goombada Guska on top. Nice pick from all 3 of you.

I would like to have 10% as much success at anything in life as Fisher Stevens has had with women.

A friend of mine played John Turturro's girlfriend in the Color of Money.
