Do you think Blame will be a great stallion?

I was very impressed with Blame all year! I thought his performance in the Breeders Cup Classic, where he beat Zenyatta, was really gutsy. I was even taken aback by his losing effort in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. I was very impressed at how Blame closed the gap to 2 lengths when hopelessly chasing down Haynesfield.

This Horse has a lot of heart and guts in my opinion and I believe he will pass it on to his offspring. What do you think? Will Blame be an good Stallion? Of course this is all speculative:)

I was going to applaud you for your grammar, but I didn't want to appear catty.

Wow. Sounds like your pissed. Sorry for whatever I said to upset you Charlie.

Indian Charlie 12-14-2010 10:49 PM

I'm always pissed.

But I was just giving you a hard time, nothing more.

Which reminds me of that Slow Children song from a few years back.

No shot.

Im far from a breeding expert, but how does he get any good mares?
There are tons of simply better more flashy sires.
He might get decent horses, but how many will have any speed and be able to win early? I think he will be standing for under 12k in 2 years.

Um, how does he get any good mares? He will get the best Claiborne mares, that's a pretty nice starting point, while Blame may not be flashy, whatever that means, he has a pretty solid female family, I'd breed to him over Quality Road or Lookin at Lucky, he actually won at 10 furlongs.

how does he not? he stands at claiborne, who also boards the phipps broodmare band. and claiborne does know how to help make a stallion.

i don't know that blame will be a great stallion, but he'll certainly get his chances. and without having to cover close to 200 mares like he would with coolmore.

F.Y.I.

Curlin covered 131 mares in the 2009 breeding season.

that's a lot of lovin'!

Linny 12-15-2010 08:48 AM

Blame's sire (Arch) and his dam (Liable) are each tail female to truly amazing mares. Arch traces to Courtly Dee and Liable to Rough Shod. Both of those mares have some pretty strong sires under them.
I'm sure that many of the Claiborne clients will support Blame as they have his sire. Breeders looking to add some stamina to a family heavy with speed might use him.
I am not sure he'll be a "commercial success," his sire really hasn't been. However I see him as more the Broad Brush or Kris S type, he'll have a following of breed to race types.

This thread is disgusting.

It's tough to bring in new fans to the sport and keep them with threads like these. What kind of person ponders if a horse load is going to consistently produce greatness?

Wtf is wrong with you?

Save Seeking the Gold and Pulpit, how many terriffic stallions have they "made" in the last 20 years?

Arch will certainly become more commercial in coming years. Kris S seems to have a successful son in Rock hard Ten, I would think Claiborne would love Blame to be as well received as RHT.

I know, because people in the game care about that..... Not winning first out in May.
QR and Lucky will both have better chances to be better sires.

lol
seriously? you take out two consistently good stallions and then ask that? wow. yeah, if you take all the good out of anything, the comparison then becomes lame, doesn't it?

yes, commercial breeders have bypassed this farm due to sheer numbers. not sure what that has to do with whether blame will be a success. claiborne knows their job, and knows how to support a stallion. i don't think it's them causing claiborne problems, i think it's their fellow horsemen and women who have run past them and some good horses for a more commercially viable horse.
blame, any stallion, is bucking the odds. hard to say if he'll be a success or not. or any new lane's end or three chimneys stallion for that matter. look at smarty...ghostzapper. two started at six figure studs that have done much of nothing thus far.
