College tuition has been going up for over 30 years in America. College Professors need a pay cut.

If my tuition suddenly tripled in the middle of my course towards a degree, I'd get furious, too! It tripled, Dell. Turns out the violence was contributed to by teens, non-college students rampaging with the crowds. Alot of the demonstrations was peaceful. Unfortunately looked alot like what happened outside the Democratic Convention in Chicago in 1968. |

You said, "See when you give something away for free for years some think they are owed for, well, being alive." You are the one talking about something you clearly don't know anything about. It's not "free", its subsidized by tax dollars everyone pays in England, they pay a decreased cost. They pay about $5,000 per year, and it was just raised to $15,000 per year out of nowhere. Tripled. Could you afford that as a parent? And that is virtually identical to college in the US at state universities for about $4500 per semester (varies of course), where that low cost is subsidized by state tax dollars (exactly as school is subsidized in England by tax dollars) and if that tuition tripled suddenly we'd have student revolts (and parent revolts), too. So if you want to rag about "freeloaders", you might realize you sound really foolish, as they pay for their educations. But if you want to rag on it, be sure you rag on every single college student and their parents in America, who attend a state-subsidized university, and call them "freeloaders" too, so at least you are consistent with who you denigrate. And my comment regarding what went on outside the Democratic convention refers to student-police violence, not to the cause of the demonstration. |

Freeloaders are students who get tuition for free and grow accustomed to it as it's a given. Here in the U.S. we never had have that unless you show some talent that will either benefit the University, society or someone was generous enough (oops usually a person making 250K plus) to put them thru. Here in America they do it the ole fashion way, 'THEY EARN IT' |
