Obama and the Military

The Obama administration has proposed a 1.4 percent pay raise for the military in 2011 – the lowest since 1962, when they got no raise.

Sorry you guys aren't worthy of the guys with tough jobs, like the mail carrier, who everyday is forced to get the letters in the right slots at least 70% correct. Or the Federal Building janitor whose everyday struggle it is to find a new sleeping spot. Yea those with the tough jobs deserve the :$::$::$:But look on the bright side soon DADT will be history and DREAM will be in. Soon we'll be sending young illegals to fill your spots so good luck with your future endeavors.

I have said all along that Obama could care less about the military and no one believes me. Does anyone believe now. What would he know about the military? Does he have to deal with being separated from family like members of the military do. HELL NO!!!!!! Has he ever been in a situation where he might be shot at? HELL NO!!!!!!!! Hopefully in 2013 this virus will get a one way ticket out of DC. Im glad im no longer in the military. I wouldn't want to refer to him as my Commander-In-Chief. He would rather give illegals a free ride. Im thinking he is trying to find someone to vote for him 2012.

Ok let me rephrase it as being in a combat situation where he could be shot at.

The country is broke. It isn't about deserving anything. What part of nothing would you like?

They are all the same. Term limits for Congress would help. No one will make an unpopular decision. They need me in there.

Spoken like a true pig that you are. Love how your fearless President's own party gave him the F YOU today when it can to the tax reform bill. Good thing is that the Dream Act is history. You can crawl back into your hole. BTW I do feel that people on Social Security should be getting yearly raises. Why should thier pay be frozen when everything goes up. Also if you had any brains, how would that benefit me? It's now looking like
the Tax Reform Bill will be passed. Wonder what that will mean for the Dream Act.
Where will the money come to support these undeserving people if this bill is passed.
If this country is going broke why are we giving alot of countries aid? Why are we rebuilding Iraq?

Again and I'll go slow since you obviously aren't the brightest bulb on the tree. THE US IS BROKE DIPSHIT, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.
Again numbnuts where is this money coming from?

You have stated over and over ad nausem that you are former miliitary and you complained over and over about your lack of cost of living increase.

Why are we rebuilding Iraq?
Follow the money trail numbnuts.. Does the fact that Haliburton is making BILLIONS on the rebuilding of IRAQ have any meaning to you whastoever?

I guess you feel that the military doesnt deserve cost of living raises? Doesnt suprise me seeing how ignorant you are. I know the US is low on money f head. Also at least my light bulb is still shining. Didnt your light bulb burn out years ago?

Danzig 12-10-2010 06:36 AM

nascar, with ss recipients and fed workers having their pay frozen, why you would think the military would receive a big raise is beyond me. i know any way you can attack the prez is considered a good thing to you...but this country is in poor shape, and no one can justify big raises. the military is a huge expense, too huge really. btw, nascar, people might take you more seriously if you didn't immediately stoop to name calling as soon as someone takes a contrary position to your own. besides, everyone know what our military does for us. but right now, they also know the fix we're in.

I feel the military should be paid triple.. However how I feel and the reality of the situation are 2 different things. The reality is we are in a depression and we are carrying massive debt so it wouldn't be a prudent thing to do. We should be cutting expenses not increasing them.

Am I the only one that finds your posting extremely hypocritical.. You bash Obama on the economy and the debt yet you bash him on not giving the military or social security a raise. Both will add to the debt..

I'm hardly a profiler but let me take a shot.

1. You have a job.
2. You are retired military
3. You collect Social Security or are within 10 years of doing so.

Just for your info both 1 and 2 apply. Thank you for your thoughts on the military should be paid triple. The following applies to all of the presidents: Why do we give all these countries aid and not take care of our own people first? Can you or someone give a explaination why this happens. Could this be one of the reasons why this country is in debt? Didnt Congress vote themselves for a raise maybe 2 or 3 years ago?

See item #13. Also with this country not in great shape why do we give these other countries an astronomical amount of aid. Im not bashing just Obama on this one but all President's. We dont have the money why should we support these other countries? Dont you think that is part of the problem?

i posted a graph a couple months back when someone mentioned foreign aid. it's not anywhere even remotely close to the two largest drains on the federal budget, social security and the military. every depts budget is small compared to dod. like i posted elsewhere, our military spending is equal to the military budget of every other country in the world combined. the united states has half the worlds military spending. that is mind-boggling to me. we are relatively isolated from much of the world. we need to spend that much on defense? really? we don't give an 'astronomical' amount of aid, not as a percentage of total spending.
the real issue is that we now must dig ourselves out of a hole that's been decades in the making. and no one wants to make the real decisions to make that happen. our govt spent when they had, and now spend when they don't have. the deficit in turn negatively affects the economy. there needs to be real change, and soon. cuts need to happen, and i'm not talking of a freeze on fed salaries.

but, no doubt that all that positive change not happening is due to the republican filibuster.

It's always the Republican Party's fault isn't it. Wonder if the
President's, Senator's, Congressman's, and the President's and First Lady's staff are going
to have their wages frozen. Another way to help the budget is to get out of Iraq.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't one of the main reasons why Bush started the war in Iraq was because of so-called Weapons of Mass Destruction?
I haven't heard of these weapons being found yet Mr. Bush.

no, it's not always the reps fault. everyone seems to forget that all of congress voted to go back into iraq. now, it's bush and co who apparently lied (remember colin powell leaving when he found out he'd been duped?) but congress went right along. and members of congress are privy to much of the same info as the prez, but he makes a convenient scapegoat.
the main problem is that when money was flowing, so was the spending. now, the bubbles have burst, and our feds aren't in much of a position to get us out, since they're already so deep in debt. which causes a drag on our economy recovering. so, now we have a dog chasing it's tail, and the only 'meaningful' thing obama has produced this year is health care, which is a further drain on the treasury. he put that first, after saying the economy would come first. oops.

.

Yes, the wages of Congressmen and Senators was frozen a year ago, first Lady's staff this year, all staff except military this year.

John Boehner (incoming House Speaker) has aready announced his first vote will be to freeze Congressmen's office budgets. Whoopee :D But I guess he gets credit for trying.

"Well, how about we start with cutting Congress? I'm going to cut my budget, my leadership budget five percent. I'm going to cut all the leadership budgets by five percent. I'm going to cut every committee's budget by five percent," Boehner told Lesley Stahl of CBS News's "60 Minutes." "And every member is going to see a five percent reduction in their allowance. All together that's $25-$30 million and it likely would be one of the first votes we cast."
