Trivia

I'm pretty sure this is the only horse that Todd Pletcher has ever trained who has a top 3 finish in the Breeders Cup Classic.

Name him.

I can't believe this horse went off at 2.90 to 1 against Diazo.

He might have been favored in the Travers, and second choice in the Belmont.

Ick.

Ironically, he won the Haskell pretty impressively. Based on the plodding PPs on display here, who would have guessed that?

Yep - though Pletcher only trained him for a single race much later on - I believe he's the only horse Pletcher's ever trained at any point - with a top 3 finish in the BC Classic.

Didn't Flower Alley run second in the Classic a few years ago?

You're right. That one escaped me.

Speaking of stellar horses who've finished 3rd in the BC Classic ....

Name him.

Correct on Tiago.

Keeping up with the theme - a true champion (according to BTW anyway)

Name him.

Correct - He became a true refuser. His defeat against a badly soften up Seattle Fitz was a legendary display of hanging.

Here's another 3rd place BC Classic finisher ...

Name him.

Dramatic Gold. I think he came back from 3 cannon bone fractures.

Yep - but I think all of the fractures came later on. He started at 2 and went several years without missing much time. He was a pretty good horse who just happened to run a lot more 2nd's than wins.

Yeah but think about how many folks Terry Finley has gotten to join West Point because of what a superstar Seattle Fitz was (or Awesome Gem is for that matter).
