Locks and longshots for the weekend

Since there are so many great races this weekend (oh crap is someone going to interrogate me for use of the word great? :D), I thought it might be fun to play locks and longshots.

My lock scratched (R Betty Greybull, damnit) but alas, I have another one.

I need to preface my longshot by wishing Brass Hat (well okay and Stately Victor) luck in the Clark.

I keep looking at pp's and am not understanding these odds. Maybe I'm nuts.

Anyway...

Longshot - Dubious Miss (Clark)

Lock - Sebastian Flyte (Hollywood Derby)

Who wants to go next?

no matter what the odds, I will get 1st and 3rd

Giant Oak owes me money - long shot

Regal Ransom is a mortal lock since I'm not betting him

:wf

Two locks, both longshots: Redding Colliery (maybe not a longshot when the betting opens) and Friend or Foe.

I have 3-4-5-11

no idea what the stewarts will do but I imagine it will keep me from winning

AeWingnut 11-26-2010 05:00 PM

4-5-3-8

thought it was 11 that ran 5th

o-well

I have the win:o

Good for you! I'm glad he paid you back and that someone is happy. :)

I'm not making excuses for my pick.

I do, of course, wonder what the outcome would have been if Kent had had a brain but alas.... it was not meant to be. :wf

Did you see the race?

Or the context of the quote?

I will not give props to any post that includes

Saw the race, Giant Oak lost by a head and placed first off a DQ. Still a good call and a ticket cashed.

It wasn't a good call at all. It was a lucky call. I don't expect you to understand the difference.

Happy for the connections.

But while it's tough to argue with the DQ of the winner -- I think it was very easily the right call -- it's also tough to think the original winner wasn't 6 furlongs the best in that race, which I'm guessing from your tone in this thread, you already knew.

Tough crowd.

Give me a "lucky" call that cashes over a "good" call that doesn't anyday.

I didn't bet Regal Ransom

that is usually enough for any horse to sprout wings...

I made my comments before looking at the PPs
I wasn't planning on betting but did

and $5 WPS helped but I kept playing

so all of my Giant Oak money is gone

time - the gamblers biggest enemy

AeWingnut 11-27-2010 11:00 AM

I think Dubious Miss needs to be on a watch list after that trip

I try and save accolades for when they are deserved. Betting a notorious hanger, that hangs, only to get put up because the winner (who was lengths the best) gets an as.shole ride and interferes with a different horse seems more like a lucky break than a good call to me.

I'm weird like that.
