Shireffs-- Zenyatta is HOY

Apparently it is a humanitarian award now. Maybe Bono should get it next year.

"I think she should be Horse of the Year. Obviously she has done so much for the business. You just have to reward it and that would be an appropriate award."

Runner-up gets some Crest Whitestrips Pro. He should be thankful.

randallscott35 11-07-2010 11:54 AM

Can't wait to see the Moss' reaction when she doesn't get it again. I'm thinking she'll be back.

Princess Doreen 11-07-2010 11:55 AM

Maybe Jess will make up some Zenyatta wine for the Moss's to send out to the turf writers?!~

Zenyatta 6/5-1-0, Blame 5/4-1-0....Zenyatta wins 5 grade 1's, Blame wins 4. Separated by a nose in BCC...could go either way!

That is not his argument. He says that 60 Minutes and fans wearing shirts an holding signs means she should get it.

Disappointing that he can't credit the deserving winner. In a way I can understand the love he has for his horse but it is a slap in the face to the connections of Blame.

No it can't!

Um yes it can, the numbers dont lie. If Blame had won the Woodward, actually even ran in it, and performed better in the JCGC it would be lock city, he did not, so he is not lock city.

Except it couldn't. She's still Queen Z, and she's still going in the Hall of Fame but he beat her fair and square in her only race in open company this year, and no, she didn't fly past him after the wire. He kept digging in. His nose stayed in front. People need to calm down about this award somehow being a lifetime achievement award. It's not. We already have awards for that.

It's a weird deflation to have after a finish like that. I guess it really does feel to a lot of people like when Birdstone beat Smarty Jones. I do wanna congratulate Claiborne Farm for an amazing accomplishment with a homebred in their 100th year. I hope they threw a bit party back at the farm. They seemed to feel a bit guilty over the win, and when something like this happens they deserve an opportunity to break out the champagne. Now I'm sure the party to be at involved Goldikova's connections. Freddie thinks Goldi's better than Miesque and he would know, as he's the one who rode her back in the day. Amazing mare.

Heck, Zenyatta deserves some champagne too. Someone go give Mike Smith a hug and an "it's not your fault" Good Will Hunting-style therapy session.

I'm not having another pointless discussion with you. It's not even debatable. She defeated restricted company and lost her one race against unrestricted. The horse that beat her has had a very good year and beat much better fields than she has.

There is no way someone can make an arguement that she is more deserving of the award over Blame for what they have done on the track THIS YEAR.

There is no need to point out anything about a pointless discussion, you take shots all the time and I dont respond that way. Like in the NBA thread....
I have been keeping anything pointless to a minimum. I would be fine with Z winning HOY, no injustice would be done.

It isn't a lifetime achievement award. This is a non-discussion

Can't you see that being one of the best horses never to have won horse of the year does her more service than being handed an award she doesn't deserve ?

Should go to Blame. They should of previously exposed her to a large field putting dirt in her face.

100000% agree with the second sentence. Does anyone beleive she does not win the Personal Ensign in a laugher?

Yeah...you never take shots. You're squeaky clean. Step away from the computer for a few minutes this weekend.

I was away from the computer all day Friday.... Spent noon-7pm at the racino. But thanks for the concern.
