CLASSIC CHAT: Quality Road Draws The Rail

Ut oh. Zenyatta post 8. LAL post 12.

Johnny V. is probably heart broken because he's drawn inside of Haynesfield and First Dude. I'm sure he had his heart set on letting those two go and stalking them while widest.

Would've looked better for them if Morning Line hadn't gone to the Dirt Mile. Less speed now.

Agree but still should be enough there to make it an interesting stretch drive

Big Drama who I didn't like anyway got the rail as well.

I don't think the posts matter at all in this race.

GZ won from the one hole

Should be a piece of cake for QR...............

Not at Churchill though. The 2004 BCC was at Lone Star. Luckin' At Lucky got a taste of what can happen coming out of the 1 hole in a 1 1/4 race at CD. There's just high potential for trouble.

Doug, I think the fact the other speed is drawn directly outside of him and he has the rail means it matters. He has question marks anyway, it just gives you extra pause.

I'm pretty sure I remember a Breeders Cup at Churchill where every horse that finished first had a "1" on the saddle cloth.

Toss the 1's at your own risk! Especially if the rail pavement is used!

The correct answer was Ghostzapper was a freakishly good horse, Lone Star, Churchill, Mars, whatever, and besides, SO was just making a snide remark about people comparing QR to GZ or something.

This is not a 20 horse field. There's nothing wrong with Quality Road's draw.

Not ideal. Nothing wrong with it. Not ideal.

It's an interesting post for Quality Road. I was at Santa Anita last year when he flipped out when the helicopter starting swooping over the gate. This year he loads first. Wonder if Shireefs has called in about 3 "copters" to hover over....

No way - he needs QR in the race to help force the pace

Seattleallstar 11-02-2010 06:53 PM

lets all hope that QR even loads into the gate this time around

Hasn't the 1 hole won more Derbies than any other post? The 1 hole didn't hurt in the 2006 BC either.
