So You Think won the Aussies' best wfa race as a spring 3yo, which is a difficult thing to do; think winning the JC Gold Cup in April of the 3yo year. Of course he got a weight allowance for his tender age, but we haven't seen anything like this in this country since 3yo Stagehand carried 100 lbs and nosed out Seabiscuit in the Santa Anita Hcp.
This was his 4th race of his current 'preparation'; he won a Group 2 over 7f on August 28, was back in 3 weeks to win a G1 at 9f on Sept. 18; another 3 weeks later, he won a G1 at 10f on October 9, and finally won the 10f Cox Plate on October 23, off 2 weeks rest. No sign of bouncing; each win was more impressive than the last. His goal is the 2 mile Melbourne Cup on November 2nd, 10 days after his most recent race. This is actually a somewhat leisurely schedule for Aussie runners; last year's Melbourne Cup winner won a G3 12.5f prep race on the Saturday before the Tuesday on which the big race is run.
