Rip Van Winkle Retired

Too bad...probably didn't have anything close to a chance in the classic, but would have added a bit more depth to an already talented mile.

Without starting another stupid thread of "he's done enough"....I just can't understand these big powerhouse stables retiring so many horses. They have such a strong stallion roster, does it make sense to add another? It just seems to me that Rip could come back next year and only promote their current successful stallion Galileo....

5 for 14? What is the big deal?

Seriously though, damn shame. Nice horse.

Recently bought into a 2yo filly sired by Rip Van Winkle through TVI. Her name is Spanish Romance. She is out of a Mr. Prospector mare and won her first race by 5 lengths in France.

My wife and I are headed to Chantilly to watch her race on May 15th. Should be a very cool experience. Never been there.

Hoping that Spanish Romance continues to develop well and stays fit, but I'm obviously quite excited to be part of this one. RvW progeny seem to be very precocious and are running well over in Europe.

Also bought into a couple other European-based 2yo colts, a Lope de Vega and a Dream Ahead. They will take a little longer to reach the track.

Hoping one of these pops. But even if they don't, should be a fun ride!

Cheers,

Otis
