To Honor and Serve

Nice looking 2YO. Final time of his maiden win was only .29 slower than Colizeo's win in the Star of Cozzene.

He is nice, the race call was fun too.

The Indomitable DrugS 10-03-2010 06:36 AM

He looks like a star in the making.

Bill Mott is absolutely brutal with 2yo debuters on dirt - and this horse ran so strong first out. His preformance yesterday was absolutely tremendous.

Bill Mott has 916 starts with 2yo's since 2003 - and his ROI from that huge sample size in a horrid $1.17 - you're talking about a 41.5% loss on the betting dollar.

And with 2yo's on dirt since 2003 - 594 starts and a $1.13 ROI - you're getting into losing triple the takeout. Words can't describe how awful that is.

Mott's two-year-olds tend to improve a whole lot from age two to three when he trains them .. and - if they get transferred to another barn - the improvement is often significant.

Zayat moved some of his 2yo's with Mott to Baffert one year - and several of them saw a big spike in form. Zensational and Pioneer of the Nile most notably. Baffert took POTN from Mott off of a 3rd place finish beaten 8 lengths to Square Eddie at Kee and a 5th place finish behind Midshipman in the BC Juv - POTN won his first four straight for Baffert - all at the Grade 1 and Grade 2 level before the winning streak was snapped with a 2nd place finish in the Kentucky Derby.

That's kind of the way I saw it. He ran a very nice race in his debut rushing up the inside to reach contention and battling all the way. The pedigree is solid to go long as I think we're going to see the Bernardini offspring improve as the distances get longer. His dam was a stakes winner and he's a half to India, who won the Cotillion at Philly Park in 2006.

I assume that would be considered the downside?

What a colossal disappointment she was. I had almost forgotten that she was a huge favorite in the Matron that Folklore crushed.

I was really hoping the race would come off the turf because I thought his debut was exceptional. I've never rooted against an Indy, but I did root against Astrology that day and after the race I was certain that To Honor and Serve was the better horse. Was that Charlotte Weber in the winner's circle? I thought so, but couldn't be sure.

Anyone know what Beyer fig he got? He's not on the DRF leaderboard.
Thanks!

Are you talking about Arian Foster's longest TD run of the season or To Honor and Serve's Beyer?:)

Beyer.

Wish he would have run like that while at UT.

I knew which one. To Honor and Serve has a better future but I like both.

Looked good winning a Graded Stakes at AQU today with a candy trip.

Mott's plan was to run him back in what should be a moderate Remsen Stakes - he basically won't have to worry about Graded earnings next year and can do whatever he wants with him. We'll see if he goes through with that plan.

What odds do you have/

hockey2315 11-06-2010 03:22 PM

When I looked at Wynn's website he was 60-1, but by the time my guy got the bet down he was 30-1.
