Bill Maher: the model for religious sensitivity

http://articles.cnn.com/2010-09-15/p..._s=PM:POLITICS

Excerpt: "...part of me is rooting for her because she's going to get her Christian ass kicked in the general election."

It's still OK to pick on Christians. No other faiths though.

Who the hell ever said he was the model for religious sensitivity? He made an entire movie bashing religion. You'll never hear him stick up for any religion. Only you would think you're making a point with this kind of thread.

Have you seen his movie Religulous? He makes fun of Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc throughout the whole movie. He is pretty much an equal-opportunity religion basher.

OK, point taken with regard to his movie.

How long do you think it will take for you to witness him calling for someone to get his "Jewish ass kicked" or his "Muslim ass kicked"?

If you used the equivalent expression substituting only the religion, he'd be begging to keep his job today, and the liberal press would be all over him like sharks.

How many Jews or Muslims make their faith an integral part of their Senate campaigns?

I have no idea. How many?

It's irrelevant in any case, because even if the number is higher than those of Christians, the previously noted hipocrisy with regard to commentary will still exist.

slotdirt 09-17-2010 01:59 PM

I think my question was rhetorical, but what do I know?

Antitrust32 09-17-2010 02:04 PM

I wish it was a requirement for public officials to never mention religion, talk about whether they are religious or not, and most importantly, never use religion as there basis on decision making.

Reasonable thoughts like this make me wonder how you can be a Repub. :D

slotdirt 09-17-2010 10:14 PM

I'm a Republican, but I think there should be three parties: Democrat, Republicans, and Tea Party. I'm not sure there's still room for social moderates in the GOP, and that is sad.

This is truly outrageous. And I am outraged.

i don't agree with maher on everything, but the movie 'religulous' just cracked me up. i have it protected on my drv, for when i choose to watch and laugh again.
