General Assembly
According to this article about Tinners Way being pensioned, Tinners Way is the second best son of Secretariat, behind Risen Star.
I don't know, Tinners Way won a lot more money, but was he really better than General Assembly?? http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...to-old-friends |
No way, General Assembly was better, and if not for The Bid, he probably would be the best son of Secretariat

He was a tremendous horse. I just think Risen Star was better. I'm not sure Risen Star wasn't one of the better horses I have ever seen. But, he didn't run enough to really know. General Assembly danced a lot of dances and performed well in most of them. |

General Assembly was my pick that year, too. Just to clarify on an earlier post I might have misinterpreted, Spectacular Bid was not a son or grandson of Secretariat. That said, I cherish Spectacular Bid's Florida Derby that I saw from the track apron at the finish line. That finish line win is one of the photos on the wall of this sports viewing room. The greatest example of a horse pulling a jockey to victory that I have ever seen in my years of racing fandom. |
