Left guard for the Jets....

* The Starter as of right now:

* The Backup as of right now:

I was shocked that Ryan admits they don't have enough football players to fill the roster on Hard Knocks. Sanchez isn't going to last September if either of those 2 start at LG. First 3 games look "challenging"...

The Indomitable DrugS 09-02-2010 10:55 AM

Yep. They seem intent on keeping a stable of fullbacks - and their best wideout Santonio Negron Holmes Jr. will be out for the first four games. It really does look like Sanchez will be handing off as much or more than Kyle Boller did when he was a starter with the Ravens a few years ago when Rex Ryan was a defensive coach on that team.

Dahoss 09-02-2010 11:00 AM

Of course Sanchez will be handing the ball off a lot. That is the type of team the Jets are. They are never going to be a pass first team. They aren't built that way.

Great defense and a solid running game is their gameplan. Sanchez's main responsibility is to not turn the ball over. If he plays like he has in the preseason, it's going to be a long year.

How can they not give into Reevis given the horror of the offensive side of the ball. Back up QB didn't seem to be a rocket scientist either. They have to be thinking the defense is where the points are but only if Reevis plays.

Hoss you think they have enough RB talent to carry them. That terminator kid may end up playing more FB because he appears to be a human battering ram but where's the speed coming from with them?

miraja2 09-02-2010 11:11 AM

In this day and age practically no team has 22 good starters. The Jets have a big question mark at left guard that everybody suddenly knows about now because of a tv show. Okay fine, but every other team in the league has at least one question mark somewhere. I like watching Hard Knocks too, but the idea that someone can figure out how good a team is going to be by watching an edited hour of that team each week is laughable. It is akin to someone using TVG's "Finish Line" show as a handicapping tool.

The Jets should be a playoff contender for sure. I see them as somewhere between 8-8 and 10-6 if they have to play without their CB, and probably between 9-7 and 11-5 with him.

Greene is the real deal.

Maybe so ... but you can certainly figure out how bad a teams two left guards are by watching a single episode.

Sanchez after breaking every single huddle on a passing play "C'mon Vlad!" - or - "Let's Go Vlad!" - or "try to not get me killed, Vlad!"

I'm not sure that Sanchez getting hurt wouldn't be a blessing in disguise for them. Would 55 year old Mark Brunell, QB turned WR Brad Smith, or the bad penny Kellen Clemens be that much worse?

The Indomitable DrugS 09-02-2010 11:32 AM

Brunell was pretty damn good like 15 years ago.

Probably was a lot better running and scrambling quarterback in that league than Tebow will ever prove to be.

The Broncos will probably have Tebow run 6-to-10 plays a game all year long out of the Wild Jesus formation. He's Pat White - minus the whole speed and moves thingy.

randallscott35 09-02-2010 11:37 AM

That's alright, ateam says 13-3, no prob.

RockHardTen1985 09-02-2010 11:39 AM

They are going to get BLASTED on Monday night. Baltimore is the goods. I cant wait. Sanchez will be something like 6-22 with 2 interceptions.

the last place I want to have a hole on my team is on the offensive line. Most important part of a football team. I'd much rather have a shaky linebacker, or reciever, or even QB or RB. Great O-line can make an average QB look good.. and make an average RB look unbelievable.

Eagles biggest question mark is their O-line. injuries, Stacy Andrews sucks, its really shaky. Making me nervous going into the season.

I agree.

And the plays they showed on HBO and the stuff the coaching staff was saying about the position makes it seem pretty bad. I'm just saying that none of us really know how the Jets' o-line will really function. They have a couple of really solid guys in the unit. Of course, it only takes one weak link to make a bad o-line, but I'm not going to make many evaluations of a given position or player based simply on what HBO decides will make the most compelling television.

I know you strongly disagree, but I think there is a good chance that Eagles' fans realize this year how good they had it with McNabb. The guy throws picks at the lowest rate in the history of the league. He sure didn't lose very many games for them over the last decade, and I'm not at all convinced that will be the case with Kolb.

ateamstupid 09-02-2010 01:07 PM

Yawn.

Slauson is adequate, Vlad sucked in preseason. Faneca was a below average pass blocker last year and we were fine. This is the best you could do?

And whoever questioned whether the Jets have enough RB talent to run the ball, well, this is why it's impossible for me to take DT football conversations seriously.

The last thing any Patriot 'fan' should be clowning on someone else about is their LG. With Logan Mankins' holdout and the injury to Nick Kaczur, you're down to your third-string at that spot. But I wouldn't expect DrugS to have any idea what I'm talking about.

nebrady 09-02-2010 01:23 PM

Nor you stupid!

Ok stupid have you noticed that are offense is looking great while your offense is like your "yawn". Wake me up when it scores! Brady looks awesome even with the problems on the o-line and the rookie te Gronkowski looks great. Who needs a running game when we can throw on you all day! As for the jets, without revis your defense isn't the same! Can't wait to go down and beat you in your new "meadowlands" dump. After that week you will be hearing jets fans crying about how the offense sucks and pay reavis his money! This just in the jets have missed the runway and crashed and burned. LOL :D

ateamstupid 09-02-2010 01:24 PM

Why the hell are you on a horse racing board? And yeah, having a swiss cheese defense is way better than a shaky offense. Good luck with that.

nebrady 09-02-2010 01:29 PM

Because I like the horses and frankly love to rattle you stupid jet fans! Our defense will be fine. Their young but with belichick they will get better! You forget about Mayo stupid! Shaky isn't the word for your offense more like old baltimore! Sanchez will struggle tomlinson old and add troublemaker holmes to it and you got problems! Plus your relying on cromartie who made a phantom try against you in playoffs. Can't wait for this season to start.
