CODE BLUE set the pace off the inside and faded in the drive.

Do they even question a guy after a ride like that? Looked like a workout, and a half-assed one at that.

That was the type of ride that, without further explanation, leads people to believe this game is not completely above board. Racing does itself a diservice by not addressing this type of situation (time and time again).

I agree that the ride was an awfully curious one... and the rider basically never appeared to urge the horse at any point.

But - if your intentions are to stiff a horse going in - you do not put the horse on the lead under any circumstances at any point in the race.

Ive seen plenty of rides like this, but this one was just a head scratcher. I mean was his horse spent already? Had a breathing problem and just decided not to persevere with the horse anymore? This wasnt like some super longshot no nobody, it was the favorite.

also of note, I have seen alot of suspect rides at Ellis this meet for some reason. I mean hell I saw two rides Jamie Theriot gave in one day including this one with the 4, that made me just shake my head.

Last ride I remember that made me wonder if things were on the up and up, was a few years ago at Fair Grounds one of the Melancon's was riding the favorite in a grass race, and the whole race he had a super hammerlock on the horse throughout the damn race! Even in deep stretch he never rode or let go of the reins, the horse ended up losing by less than a length I believe.
