Sometimes Police Need to Stop and Think

if they only announced this line is for JOBS. No RIOTS no hospital vistits (let's hope the new Obama plan has em covered) and the stupid mom who brought her baby in the oppressive heat could have stayed home and watched Jerry Springer.

The lady who brought the kid that had a seizure there should be thrown in jail for child neglect and child endangerment.

Er, seeing as how this crowd was there for applications for housing, how do you know the "stupid mom" even had a home, let alone a TV?

Jesus. Thirty thousand people showed up for 655 housing slots, none of which are currently available. But God forbid we let the tax cuts expire on the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans, because then they might have to make do with six houses, instead of seven, right Sen. McCain?

"Sometimes Police Need to Stop and Think"

But, on the otherhand, the recipient, the "Zero Liability Voter", he or she doesn't need to think at all. Not about where the money is going to come from, not about the relative odds of being part of a 30,000 person crowd seeking one of less than 700 spots, or about how heat affects small children for that matter.

Those who are about to get their taxes spiked to the moon however do have to think about how to avoid that tax, and they will. They will hire less, they will invest more conservatively, they may retire early, take their ball and go home.

What will not happen, much to the chagrin of the socialists, is that the well-to-do will just sit there and be run over by the confiscatory measures the socialists dream up.

the next day

Police used cones to set up a special lane on Norman Berry Drive where people could drop off their forms without getting out of their cars.

"It's more of a traffic concern today," East Point Police Chief Leander Robinson told the AJC

"They want us to mail it in, but most folks aren’t going to mail theirs in, thinking they will get lost in the mail,” she said.

yes, the wealthy who work hard and make good money should pay for the lazy who dont want to work and want everything handed to them on a silver platter.

I sure as heck dont feel bad for the 30,000 in the line. they should try to work and take care of themselves.

I saw that too. :zz::zz:

guess people are that stupid.

A law that needs to get passed is any person over 18 that recieves any type of government assistance should be drug tested. Fail once, and you are not eligible.

There should also be a 6 month limit on goverment assistance. Unless you are physically or mentally handicapped, or are under 18.. 6 months of assistance. If you cant manage a job, than you are just screwed. Figure it out for yourself.

That would save this country more money than the stupid health care reform supposedly will.

dellinger63 08-12-2010 10:05 AM

I'd like each to get a voucher to turn in and take over an illegal's job.

That's really funny, ha ha, but only if one buys into, "All unemployed people are only unemployed because they are lazy takers."

Wealthy = good, work hard, productive, important
Poor = bad, lazy, freeloading, don't look for jobs

Pretty amazing how Republicans make everything out to be so white and black.

That makes it easy for audience receptivity. If only they would stop interchanging the terms, "welfare handout" with "unemployment insurance". Maybe their accountants could 'esplain the difference to them.

The US better start finding something, anything, to manufacture again, if we want jobs.

This I agree with. Sad that we got rid of those types of industries.

Like I said. For able bodied Americans over 18 years of age. 6 months of government assistance.

6 months of food stamps

6 months of unemployment

6 months of medicare

then you are cut off. MAKE people look for jobs instead of live off the taxpayers.

its not black and white, idiot, but if you think that 100% of the "poor" are out there bustin their asses looking for jobs, than you are clueless. The fraud that occurs with government handouts (aka my taxes) is down right disgusting.

Good people do fall on bad times though... thats why i have proposed the 6 months of goverment assistance.

by the way, I'm not really a Republican. I'm registered as an Independent, and I hate the republicans as much as I hate the Democraps, but I'm fiscally conservative (something that the Republicans are not) & socially "liberal" or whatever the hell that means.

I wish all politicians would be fired immediately. I hate Palin (though I would sleep with her) & I believe Obama and Bush suck equally.

this thread had nothing to do with unemployment insurance and everything to do with a welfare handout. I would argue those who have paid into the unemployment pool are ENTITLED to a share should they find themselves out of work. Not indefinately but like Lori said 6 mos seems acceptable. These section 8 apps were for handouts as all these people did to receive them is stand in line. And section 8 housing has destroyed many apartment complexes in Chicago and I suspect across the country as it seems those who rent for next to nothing could give a crap about the property and in addition to expecting a subsidy from their full-paying neighbors, expect them to pick up and deal with their crap.

Like Donna Summer said I work hard for the money and I don't want none of my hard-earned money to go to no good lazy pieces of garbage. The government needs to appreciate my hard work and treat me right.
