"The Post Office is far from the disaster you say it is. They compete very well. You put a stamp on a letter, they pick it up, and in 3-7 days it's exactly where you wrote on the envelope it should go."

I would hate to see what you consider a disaster!

Hey, you got me there, Dell!

You are so all over the place that sometimes you need to be reminded of where you've been. The Post Office doing very well is in the 'Carter gets it' stratosphere of dumb posts.

I admit I don't really know anything about the operating budget of the USPS, but it does seem like the way the thing runs needs to be reconsidered. Perhaps they should cut service out on Saturdays....or Tuesdays....or something. If they couple that with a substantial increase in stamp prices, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to make it defecit neutral if the political will was there (which of course it isn't).

The USPS simply isn't as vital to the daily lives of most Americans as it was in the pre-electronic media age....but it seems to me as if it still operates as if it is.

Tell that to the APWU which fights every single attempt to close offices or branches despite many being completely unnecessary. Trying to reduce the size or overhaul operations of a quasi-govt "business" is almost impossible because of the huge power of the unions who absolutely don't care how much taxpayer money has to be wasted to keep every single union job without a single concession.

Wow! Then it's a good thing you dragged that post up from over a year ago! There was a big risk of it's slipping under the radar.

Thank god Dell is here to protect us against dumb posts ;) :D

Was the USPO in better shape a year ago than it is now?

and 80% of the mopes who deliver mail.

make it an environmental issue if need be. At least 50% of the mail and 90% of the bulk is unwanted and discarded.

Because I ordered an overpriced KC steak 2 years ago for a relative I care about slightly more than Obama does his 'public housed aunt' doesn't mean I need a full brochure 4 times a year plus the special 'Holiday Issue' then add AARP (only 47) etc etc and stop the madness.

Mailmen oops (persons) are used to walking so can fill in as walk behind lawn mowers and walk horses kind of jobs once the illegals are re-patronized.

The USPO execs obviously need a new vocaton. Maybe Riot's asst. ?

Seattleallstar 08-08-2010 08:45 PM

my dad works for USPO, and he says its a bunch of these machines they (USPO Execs) implemented that they dont need and never use.

it must have been a great world when the guy who can't figure out which way his toupee goes on was sorting mail one letter at a time minus breaks as opposed to the machine sorting by barcode 100+/minute, 24hrs/no breaks, healthcare is a guy with a screwdriver and DeVry degree and pension is the alley and an illegal hauling you off in a uninsured, barely driveable pickup with stolen pallets as sidewalls making a junk truck Fred Sanford only dreamed about.
