That's about what he's worth. I noticed in 'capping the race that he was not gelded. I'd have tried that before a $20k tag.

I've seen some bad A. P. Indy's ....

Considering who trained that horse ... it's safe to assume he ended up on the dinner table of this guy....

This had to be a bad horse if the great Olaf Hernandez couldn't get anything better than a 0 beyer out of him.

Deflation in action

RockHardTen1985 07-29-2010 09:06 PM

For what its worth, I think I would rather have the baby in the second for 50k.

Linny 07-29-2010 09:21 PM

Two year old claimers are almost always over valued. Of course the Chief dropped Kelly Kip into a MDCL for his debut, but most of the $50k stuff you'll see at the Spa can be bought over the winter for $20K or far less.

I think your right in most casses, but my thought on the Pletcher in todays second is this.... SHe is actually ok, she made a premature big move first out. She was only dropped because its Toga and you can play the game, be more ambitious, be more aggrasive in the claiming game. Belmont or Aqueduct she likely wins a MSW race.

Is 7-5 ML an overlay or underlay?

Chris Englehart is top rated trainer at FL . His go to guy Davila is up . My guess, ML overlay . I'd put him on top of exotics and single him in pick 4 , pick 3.

You figure he just claimed the horse for $20,000 for a top client so why run him back and disappoint ?
The track itself is speed favoring as most all dirt tracks are . But it's not speed biased . It's fair imo . It'll be a interesting race.

what about Work who was with Baffert owned by Jim McIngvale, they paid 950k for him. Baffert said he was as talented as anything he ever had and was supposed to be his main Derby horse. Work apparently was hurt, never was the same and ended up a claimer horse

There are a ton of AP Indy's, well bred, expensive auction horses the Sheik gave away for pennies on the dollar to make some space. Alot of em race on the 2nd tier circuits.
