Hate to hear this.. He is a great fighter and hopefully that fight will get him through.

NoChanceToDance 07-26-2010 05:57 PM

It must be fairly well down the line. It can be caused by several different things, but often, if caught early enough it doesn't cause as many problems.

Hope he pulls through.

Having said that, when it is caused from other infections/inflammations it is often at it's work.

i heard them talking about this saturday on one of the racing channels. a real shame. it didn't sound too good, but i'm hoping for the best. laminitis is a pernicious killer; i hope they find a cure for this and soon.

It's a horrible disease that's taken away so many terrific horses. I hope he pulls through.

Danzig 08-09-2010 08:26 PM

any updates on this guy??

my miss storm cat 08-10-2010 03:57 PM

Nothing but since MdK updates his site all the time maaaaaybe that's a good sign (?).

i would think having nothing to report is a good thing.

"He is alive and doing as well as we could have hoped. He is actually bearing weight on that foot now so his chances of survival have improved markedly. Luckily it is only one foot that has been affected and he has made good progress.

"He will obviously never race again but owes nobody anything and was a great ambassador for the yard and whole team. It is a real shame he will not be able to try and go one better in the 2011 World Cup but such is racing. Fingers crossed he will at least be able to enjoy retirement and he is such a fighter, as he showed on the track.

"I will be in Dubai at the end of next week to see how he is and obviously he will be given every chance to recover. We will do all we can and the prognosis has certainly improved."

hope he continues to improve, been wondering how he was doing.

_ed_ 08-27-2010 01:16 AM

Best wishes to him.

No details other than three words...

"Continues to improve". :)

chucklestheclown 11-03-2010 04:36 AM

So did Kip. Sorry to be a wet blanket (shut up Snide) but it is what it is.

my miss storm cat 11-03-2010 10:51 PM

Yeah I know but all the same I'd rather hear the occassional line like this than nothing.

I know what you're saying though.

dagolfer33 11-04-2010 06:09 PM

This is as sad as when I didn't press all in my pk3 the leg before the World Cup, or when said horse split my exacta box that included Gloria de Campeo and the #1 with the camel jockey up. I hope LD continues to improve.

I sadly remember the day Hendrix and Nakatani fell coming around the home turn at SA just like it was yesterday.

It's so hard to even say anything cause I want to say everything but then it hurts too much so instead I'll hold my breath (literally. That's how I make myself not cry. Pathetic.) and just tell you how much I appreciate your saying that.

It's a terrible thing to wonder... to remember literally sobbing on the floor... to wonder does anyone else even remember this?

Does anyone else even remember him?

I'm glad that you do.

Not the memory of that day... those images will never leave my head and if you remember it's the same for you but I am happy that you knew who he was.

He wasn't a big flashy star but God did he have heart.

I know you know that though.

Thank you. Believe it or not you helped me feel better.

You are welcome. We owe it to these horses, because they lay their lives on the line for our entertainment. Even the cheapest horses, if you watch them run at your local track a bunch of times, you learn that they deserve remembrance. I love what you do in honor of any who have fallen, the respect for those who pass, and the hope for those who survive injury. There was a website I used to frequent called Equus Editorial, a lady named Connie from out west listed all horses who gave their lives. It was the ultimate tribute to the fallen. Many people who follow this sport dont feel the way I do, many mock the stricken. I cant do it. One of the most vivid memories I have in my life was the very sad incident with Go For Wand. Despite that, I know that I love watching the grace and power of the horse, and I enjoy betting, so I have been able to balance my feelings within this respect.

Even though I do not (usually) use pps I started to follow him because of his name (sometimes this works out and horses I follow start to win). I remember him and do not understand why you have to change your avatar and tagline just because the link to those pictures is gone. But now that it is BC day I am flashing back to George Washington.

Please put Hendrix back up.
