Hats off to NYRA
http://www.nyra.com/saratoga/stories/July232010b.shtml
"Starting today at Saratoga Race Course and continuing at Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack, the stewards’ race-day decisions involving the official order of finish will be communicated via the simulcast feed and will also be posted to NYRA.com. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board (NYSRWB), and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – will provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision." This is a great initiative which should be in place everywhere. |

They installed a new tote board. Gotta have 20/10 vision at 50 feet to read it. Whomsoever made the deciision to buy that thing should be horse whipped naked in the paddock on this dreadful weather day. Torrential rain - came home after the 3rd race. Turf races 4, 5, and 6 moved to dirt trakc. Dirt track being sealed. One of the worst weather days I've experienced at TOGA.

I like this initiative, but that really wasn't much of an explanation re: the inquiry in the 9th. All the screen read was "there was alleged interference, after watching the video, the result stood." That doesn't really help.

I find it puzzling that they didn't think enough of what was evident trouble in the pan shot to even call this inquiry. Clearly the 9 intimidated and then cut off the 4.
