Capital OTB/Saratoga

Really enjoy watching the morning shows from Saratoga, BUT, they now only allow members, which I cannot do legally from SC. Any ideas from crowd? I remember someone posting the feed ID a few years ago. I wrote them an e-mail saying I would even pay just to watch, but no response. Anyone know who to talk to??

Thanks,
Spyder

By the way, check the contest thread for the Annual Saratoga Meet Contest!

I also enjoyed the pre race Saratoga coverage and was dismayed that you needed to be a member to access the video. Hell, I even enjoyed the music when there was a lapse in setting up for new guests. I called Capital OTB and they told me I could become a member. I live in Michigan, do not know if S.C. is legal. They offer bet 50 get 50 promo.

Very poor business decision by them to require an account. Hurts no one but racing fans & their advertisers.

I too am in the same situation as the others...can a Canadian (Ontario resident) have an account with Capital OTB?

Another faraway watcher who was disappointed when Capital OTB restricted access to its content. Really great shows that have been completely isolated from input by others.

Does Capital go door-to-door and restrict non-account holders from watching its over-the-air content in upstate New York? Sorry, couldn't resist that jab!

Capital instituted the restriction upon discovering that a huge % of the bandwidth it was paying for was being used by people who were not betting there. It costs nothing to have an account and out of state customers are welcome.
Many ADW's restrict video to customers betting $X per month. Capital has no minimums. Capital also offers many contests and events online for account holders only. If you bet online with Capital you recieve track odds.

Capital OTB sells commercial time on its programming. By delivering the shows to more internet viewers, it serves its advertisers better. I suspect they have not lowered rates from a year ago yet are reaching far less viewers with this restriction.

Did you bother to read what Linny just wrote or did you prefer pontificating?

Set up an account if you want.

Yes they accept ontario residents

Cap OTB ad rates are based on TV only. When the streaming became available the charge was not increased to represent the increased exposure.

Unlike TV, bandwidth becomes more costly the more people view. Once we have a contract for TV placement, if 1 person or 10k watch, the price is the same. Not so with streaming video.

Monarchos1 07-24-2010 12:29 PM

There's no reason they couldn't adjust their ad rates to reflect online viewership, unless it was so pathetic that an increase was not warranted.

Linny 07-24-2010 07:08 PM

The decision was made based on the idea that the stream would be restricted to account holders.

There are only a few states that don't allow I don't believe SC is restricted.

We stream several tracks per day except NYRA + live morning programming year round.

The restrictions were applied due to bandwidth use.

Simply put, wager with us and we'll give you the programming plus.
