<-Coupled: Spa Sunrise and Final Mesa>

I thought they did away with coupling of entries, or is that just in certain instances?

Same owner I'm guessing.

Was it as far as them both running though? In this instance Spa Sunrise will scratch.

Sightseek 07-20-2010 01:17 PM

I thought it was same trainer, different owners?

Only same trainer/different owner entries were eliminated. Same trainer/same owner still creates an entry.

Incorrect. The new entry rule has nothing to do with whether or not they both run.

I have dinner plans with Scav's mom unfortunately.

Linny 07-20-2010 02:47 PM

Why run both the James Marvin and the Vanderbilt?

It's 16 days apart... in the old (10 years ago) days that would have been perfect for a prep... hopefully some of these come back in the Vandy.

The Marvin is a 7F race, with many layoff or turnback horses. Aside from a race-ready Vineyard Haven, I'm hard-pressed to identify a single horse in this race that would be a candidate for the 6F Vanderbilt.

PJ Campo has run some duplicative overnight stakes up here the past few years that make you scratch your head (Curlin/Jim Dandy and a listed stakes for 3YO filly sprinters on the Test undercard, by way of example), but this has a far different feel. Last year, the 1-2 finishers in the race were Pyro and Gold Trippi, hardly Vanderbilt candidates at the time.

Linny 07-21-2010 09:48 AM

The Vanderbilt has been a the local prep for the Forego at 7f on closing weekend. As happened last year, this race will probably send more to the Forego than the Vanderbilt. Have the sprinters become so specialized?

randallscott35 07-21-2010 03:21 PM

3-5 ML on Vineyard Haven? Really.

cakes44 07-21-2010 04:13 PM

Friesan Fire might go apesh!t and win this one.
