Was the Man o' War always a turf race?

I believe so. I remember it being Secretariat's "test" on turf.

What exactly is " crazy " about it? Have you actually handicapped the race?

OldDog 07-08-2010 11:01 AM

I like Gio Ponti in this race, and I think he should be the favorite, but is he that strong a favorite?

Once again, have you looked over the pps?

That was why Eric didn't make him 1:5.

I think he's trying to say that GP is a bit overrated, even with his electrifying 2nd to the greatest horse ever, in the BC last year.

I’m really not saying that Gio Ponti is overrated. Would it be an upset if he gets beat? Yes, and for me personally, I’d like nothing more than to see him back in his 2009 form, and kicking ass – see my first post – and hopefully he will be. However, he lost by a head at Tampa Bay (when he went off at 1-5), and was second again in the Manhattan, a race in which he beat Interpatation, who was checked sharply in that race, but the same Interpatation who upset Gio and a host of others in last year’s Hirsch. Also in the Manhattan was Expansion, who Gio beat by just one length. Also, rain is likely Saturday, and Interpatation and Grand Couturier both like a soft course -- Interpatation's upset last year was in the rain, and GC was third that day.

So, you kinda are saying he's overrated, just in a roundabout way?
