Mike Maker?

What happened? Only 56 starts and 8 wins at the Churchill meet, win % basically cut in half.

They run out of oxygen for the chamber?

Bad meet for maker. Probably having horses in jersey and riding lebron and mena didn't help

Forgot about NJ, how has he doing over there? That probably killed Ramsey also because he sent horses there that would have won at Churchill.

I think he's 6/12 at Monmouth w/ a couple seconds and thirds.

I'm sure a couple of layup wins were shipped to jersey for the better money.

More than anything I think not having Julien to ride hurt.

You really have a hard-on for him and that Oxygen tank.

Most trainers get in the hall of fame by winning 17% at major meets.
Obviously, if you would have followed him over the last 3-4 years you would know that a lot of his wins have come from claiming horses with Ramsey.
You see now that Mr. Ramsey is putting all his eggs in the Kitten Joy basket, the claims have been very few and Maker gets a barn full of home breds, that may or may not be able to run....instead of claiming a horse for a specific spot or condition.

Hope this helps you understand the game a little better.:wf

Um, I will admit that the tank comment was a dig at his ability to use it at will.

And I wasn't starting the thread to get Maker people fired up, I was actually curious what happened.

So Maker has to change from a claiming trainer to primarily a turf trainer, should be interesting.

Thanks for teaching me the game.....Sigh

Look up his turf stats on Formulator or thorograph.
Especially turf routes......Yes it is very interesting.

He has been very quiet, and very cold, in NY this year. He won his first race since early December the other day, and second since Aqueduct opened in late October.

Claiming less and having horses in NJ surely cost the Ramseys the owner title. I would have thought that they would have pounded the entry box the last few days to win the title. Interesting

p.s. Maggie Moss ends up winning the owner title

Ramsey has said in the past that his trainers have to have a 20% winners over 6 months with his horses or they are out. Maker could be in some trouble.
