6/20: Belmont Park (7th-10th)

ATR listeners should have enjoyed a big Saturday between Dale Romans (North Rodeo, $17.20) and Mike Stidham (Secret Kin, $11.40) visits, and Gus Alonso ('Best Bet' My Sonny Boy, $25.20) selections suggestions. I was happy to chip in too with the $288 Colonial P4 that featured Romans' Paddy O'Prado with a facile Turf Cup win setting him up as a heavy favorite for the Virginia Derby next and Secretariat later.

Elsewhere, Afleet Express (Pegasus) and Golden Itiz (Affirmed) established themselves for Jimmy Jerkens and Ron Ellis as sophomore second season stalwarts with their efforts Saturday, and Stidham's Comedero will set his sights on graded events after nabbing $240k in his easy Red Legend win at Charles Town.

Hope you did well and enjoyed a fun day of racing Saturday. Happy Father's Day to the dads! Belmont late P4 looks inviting today to wrap the weekend.

My guy who told me the best 2 yr old in Rick V barn was the Bandini filly from Thursday, even with his colt who put up a 92 beyer, No redboard either, I told another DT member this 2 days before the race.

He's OK... I think he needs to improve to win and is an underlay at 5-2 or anything close, so if I'm going to side with an improving sort, I'll take Raynick's Jet at twice the price. I suppose Maximus is dangerous on an easy lead, but isn't Fenway Faithful going with him with Friend or Foe also pressing from outside? That's pressure to left and right and should provide an honest pace scenario setting it up nicely for Ibboyee and Raynick's Jet. That's the way I saw this unfolding anyway...

It's a terrific race that would have been even more compelling had Shrewed One gone here and had Castenada been available.

In more detail... He said when Terranova took over there were some minor problems, needed his last and was at best 80% ran him anyway because they thought he was good enough, this spot today has been the spot all along.

Please double check the 7th race, I think Rumors of Glory 4-1, is actually the #4 in that race.

Congrats on the great day yesterday, and here's to another one today!!
