OBS nums continue auction rebound
Strong gains at Ocala June sale

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Ocala Breeders Sales Co. saw strong gains and a $220,000 sale-topper Tuesday at its June 2-year-old and racing-age sale. Trainer Bob Baffert purchased the sale-topping juvenile daughter of Rockport Harbor currently named May Day Rose. The $220,000 sale topper was one of seven horses to bring six figures, up from six last year. The bay Rockport Harbor filly is out of the unraced Pine Bluff mare May Day Bluff.
The one-day auction ended late Tuesday with a 5 percent gain in its 2-year-old gross, a 29 percent increase in average, and a 67 percent rise in median. The session sold 230 juveniles for for $4,912,100, up from the $4,696,300 for 284 juveniles at last year s two-day auction. Average price increased from $16,536 last year to $21,357, and median jumped from 2009 s figure of $9,000 to $15,000 this season.
